The game forces you to go to that area to progress the story, forces you to take the Lucario, forces you into a battle against Korrina and her other Lucario, forces you to send out your new Lucario in that battle, and forces you to battle using that Lucario by not letting you switch to any of the Pokemon you already have. I didn't find out until a Google/Reddit search after the fact that I could have purposely lost the battle by using Metal Sound over and over (as long as I mega evolved the Lucario during that battle, it would have "satisfied" Korrina enough to let me continue my adventure) to avoid having to win the battle.
