Yata wouldnt be the one doing damage on the opponents turn. Its just battle damage being reflected due to the failed attack. Its just old card wording too, if it was made today I would assume it would say direct damage is the trigger but I would try it in game to actually see to be sure. The older wordings are certainly tricky.

Wrong. Reflected damage due to attacking a monster with higher ATK/DEF than the attacking monster's ATK still counts as battle damage. Stone Statue of the Aztecs having the effect to "Double any battle damage your opponent takes when they attack this monster" is proof of this.

Yata-Garasu inflicting battle damage through reflected damage (somehow) like this would still trigger its effect to skip the draw phase of the opponent's next turn, since it doesn't specify that it has to inflict damage by attacking. That being said, I'm 99% sure that doing this and having Yata peck the opponent on your own turn doesn't cause the two to stack, so the opponent would still only skip one draw phase.
