Even if Stadia flops, the tech is out there (Shadow even already exists), so all PC games will effectively be portable pretty soon (if they are not already).

Meanwhile the diff between PC and console games have pretty much evaporated and many if not most PC games now are better with a controller, not keyboard and mouse (but it's still nice to have the option).

Exclusives are great, but in general you need more then just exclusives to make a system sell, especially once you have SO MANY similar types of games on other systems/pc at this point.

I'm looking at this from a different perspective though, since I have a freakton of PS4 games that I have not played, because I have so many games on the PC I can never get through them all. Good games as well.....even great games, but it's just more convienent for me to play my PC games....and I'm still using a laptop (usually conected to my huge 4k tv). If I had shadow, or the new stadia and could play em on my phone on my ipad etc.....it wouldn't actually make much difference as I don't go out much, but it would for many other people.

I'm holding off on getting borderlands 3, since just doing that makes getting Stadia free basically and I get to test it out, play other games etc. On my flight back from NY I sat next to someone who uses shadow....since he travels all the time, and he had nothing but good things to say about it.

So yeah, I get the whole PC vs Console thing in the past (I was always a both person, liking every system with a decent number of games I enjoy). Xbox one is the first primary system I didn't get in fact (just no games I really wanted to play.....sunset overdrive being the exception but it came out for pc eventually).

I don't see it being as much of a thing. PS and Nintendo might eventually get enough exclusives to make it worth a purchase...especially if they actually release systems next year, but 3-4 years from now? I just can't see there not being so many games of the same type available on PC, that you can play anywhere, with a very cheap system even....that it would make sense to buy a console.

Shadow and Stadiea both require extremely low specs, you can buy comps for $100 today to be able to play ANY game from either of them, including games that have not come out yet (Balders gate 3, cyberpunk 2077 etc). You can then also play those same games on extremely old ipad 2's, or on cell phones etc (with blue tooth controllers to boot). While there is a monthly cost ($10 for stadia, think it's $30 for shadow but it gives you a full PC to use...although no games), stadia at least also gives you a ton of games for that price.....which is going to be WAY less expensive then buying a console and new games (or even used ones).

In a year, shelling out $400+ bucks for a new console and $60 a game....might...maybe still make sense (if enough good games and especially exclusives are released), in 3 years if Stadia does stick around, and people are used to it.....I doubt many people will shell out significant money if they can basically play games anywhere they want for $10 a month.
