Then I did some calculations and determined it would actually take something like 20 hours of straight climbing to make. Factor in breaks and sleep and I can see how they are still going after 2 days. Lucky they can stop along the way to rest etc. I'm guessing the "rope" option is a last resort because of the length of the rope required/weight incurred etc, so they are hoping they at least get much closer to the surface before using a rope/pulley system. --- Tacobot 3000 "Saving the world from not having tacos."
