They want to unionize, which would make firing them without cause impossible. Of course these chains are so damn large they might just shut down locations entirely, like Walmart does when a union pops in. But fast food chains are often franchised, so it's really the local owner that gets fucked over, not the corporation.

But nobody cares about business owners.


You can't unionize a job that they are already ready to replace, it's just not cost efficient yet. All it would do is push Mc D's etc to speed up the process of automating their chains, with just maybe 1 actual human employee there at a time to deal with machines breaking down etc.

Even if they paid that 1 employee twice what current ones make, it would be a great long term profit for them.
