We even have a term for this: huisjesmelkers (house milkers). They are still protected and there are even political parties for these people with party leaders also being said people. The line between politics and corporations is very thin in The Netherlands, historically so because everything from the East India Company to the monarchy being a corporation from day 1 to creating the actual stock market is what the country was built on, its somewhat accepted because the entire country is basically a large company.

Funny that goes both ways, the real estate companies that own a lot of empty real estate here are British and American.
