Mine were done back when I was about 8 or 9 (1988 or 1989) for, what I was told, in case I got kidnapped. It was some program that a lot of kids were doing, being recorded on video, and a police officer would ask questions that would help identify each kid specifically, such as favorite foods, favorite activities, etc. Looking back on it, it still doesn't seem like it was used for nefarious purposes. Just parents having video of their child in a time where video cameras were a luxury.

I remember that, but I think we were even younger. Everyone got lined up in the auditorium and I had no idea what they were doing. It didn't hit me until years later that they were getting our fingerprints since at the time I knew nothing about that.

I don't know if they could use a child's prints to mach an adult's or not.
