| banananor 10/29/25 12:51:39 PM #463: | foolm0r0n posted... Farmers in the US are largely rural, which means they are religious. Republicans have fully captured the religious in the US. It has nothing to do with economics for them. That's an oversimplification, and it depends on the region, but yeah rural farmers and rural people in general have been on average culturally captured by the Republican party for a long time. In some cases it's not even directly related to traditional religion at this point, at least among the right-wing-farmer-origin family/friends I have. It's the demonization of urban areas, the "you pulled yourself up by your bootstraps because you're a good person, everyone else is bad people" pandering, and the cultural & experiential homogeneity making democratic priorities seem bad. Not to mention the media full court press of the past 30 years, but that's not unique to rural. All this in my limited experience/humble opinion, of course. I could go into more detail/nuance, but I feel like you all already get it --- You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
