That's kind of the image that the music press pushes, but it couldn't be further from the truth. George and Paul constantly pushed all of George's songs that he wrote to the background to elevate their own songs.

I won't lie. A lot of their stuff is pretty bad. Stuff they droned out while they were too high to function cognitively. But their gems are pretty damn great.

You have to look at it from a different perspective though: Without the Beatles, we would have been stuck with crappy Elvis-style rock or even worse: 1960s folk bullcrap

I hope so.... that seems like way too high of a percentage that dislikes the band.....I'm pretty sure a lot of people dislike them just because they're "mainstream" and popular, and aren't actually basing their opinion of the band on their music. I don't know a lot of people who subjectively think their music isn't good.

I like (or at least respect) the Beatles, but I don't like any individuals from the Beatles especially. Liking a person isn't the same as liking a band. I think Pete Townshend's a huge douche, but I love The Who.

While I agree that Harrison was a brilliant songwriter, to simply dismiss Lennon and McCartney's songwriting talent in incredible poor taste is harsh.
