im gonna give you some insight into my life here because im pissed off and i want other people to be pissed off with me

ok

so i had an appointment today with my diabetes doctor because i wanted to talk about diabetes related pain. ive had foot pain for a while now, months, but its been getting worse. its actually affecting my sleep, and my
left foot (it seems my left side is fucked) doesnt quite feel any pain. i had a metal thumbtack in the bottom of my foot for hours and i didnt even know. if im on my feet for 15/20/30 minutes, the outside of my left thigh goes numb, and itll stay numb for hours.

recently i had this intense pulsing death pain at the back of the base of my skull, its like being kicked in the nuts over and over for a few minutes and then it
goes away. and it went away, too. except last night it happened again, but this time it didnt go away, it just got less intense. looking it up and i came away with it being called occipital neuralgia. one of the reasons it could happen is due to diabetes, because diabetes fucks with your nerves even if its managed well. which mine is, more on that in a bit.

so she said that the thigh thing probably isnt diabetes related, could just be a pinched nerve. okay, that is reasonable since it only happens when im on my feet for a while. i can give that a pass.

then she said the head thing is probably high blood pressure. nah, thats not a listed reason for it. it definitely is not related to blood pressure because its a nerve thing.

and she ignored my feet issue entirely. then she went on to ask me about my blood sugar reports, and why i didnt have anything for last sunday and monday. she made a huge deal about it. except i have the same report she does, and

then she went in to say that my average blood glucose was 234 for the past 30 days, what do i have to say about that?
this, i have this to say about it:

like you get your reports from me, my thing automatically sends them to you. yours cannot be different, i think you may have the wrong persons report.

but, oh well. she made an appointment for me today at 1 for my regular doctor, to talk about a mild headache. again, its like being kicked in the nuts repeatedly. its actually debilitating.

still no mention of my feet being in constant pain.

so, im going to bring all this shit up when i see my general doctor, for fucking sure. i want nerve tests done.

by the way, those gaps in the charts? thats when i was sleeping. it tends to lose signal to my phone when im in bed since its just a little bluetooth transmitter. you can see how i get barely any sleep, and its mostly due to these issues.

i dont know if maybe she was having a shitty day, but just straight ignoring one of the things she told me to tell her if it shows up? thats fucked. having the wrong information? complete dismissal of my other issues?

like, what

Well your doing a good job of controlling your blood sugar levels, way better then me.

The nurapathy crap sucks, I get that in my legs and feet as well and I also had a problem with one of my toes recently. My doctor is completely and totally worthless (especially now), so I have mainly had to come up with solutions myself.

That being said, I had HORRIBLE migraines for the longest time, for years in fact, but they were directly due to a combination of very high blood pressure and stress, so that could be partially causing the pain at the back of your skull. I don't know if you have alot of stress right now, but it makes everything much worse.

You might also have a problem with your back/spine, which can cause pain and numbness in your legs/feet. I was diagnosed a buncha years ago with degenerative disk disease and they wanted to do surgery. I was like....nah....and I have mostly figured out how to avoid having my back go out (Sleep on my side, don't drive more then an hour or so, don't stand more then 2 hours etc).

If you don't already sleep on your side, you might try that and see if it helps with the pain/numbness etc (it doesn't totally stop it for me, but it keeps my legs from feelinglike they are half asleep most of the time.

Anyway, I really shouldn't give advice I don't follow myself, but if you don't like your doctor, you should just switch to another one (So should I, and I really planned on it before the virus thing happened but now it's too complicated).

MY AIG is horrid now and i'm still being pretty careful on what I eat (was over 10 last time, but has been around 9.8 etc previously). Before I had this doctor it was rarely over 7, but he changed my perscriptions on me (and I couldn't get em changed back), which jumped me from 7.2 to 9.8 and last time to over 10.

Sorry you got diabetes btw, it really freaking sucks. Especially if your staying at home etc. I was doing good the first few month and still excersizing regularlly, but I have mostly stopped that now as well. To freaking hard to keep up a routine for me for this long.

Anyway a decent doctor can make all the difference so really, try and get one you like and feel like you can communicate with easily. My current doctor is Russian and doesn't speak very good english (almost impossible to understand) and he keeps messing up the perscriptions he orders or not giving me directions (doubled one of my meds but made it 1 times a day instead of 2, so I ended up taking 4x as much for 6 weeks because of it as one example).

talked to the doc, had blood work done, had a ct scheduled, couldnt do the ct because the one person at the hospital who does it is sick, so the mri guy was hell i can try you, ill try anyone but i could barely fit. i couldnt quite get my arms in enough to not touch the sides of the machine because its as big as a postage stamp, like i dont think most people would be able to fit inside this one

so then he takes me back to the doctor and explains things, and the. she goes away for a while and comes back and says so im gonna put you on gabapentin, for your feet, but it also might work for your headache thing if it is nerve related. i talked to (some other doctor guy) about if it was meningitis since your white blood count was elevated, but he said if it was that, then i would be far sicker now based on how long this is been happening. so, do these things, then call here tomorrow to tell me if anything changed. if it gets worse, or doesnt go away when it happens again, go to the emergency room, but if you do, go more towards peoria than here

i laughed at that last part, because the hospital in my town is just so hilariously bad

and theres a ton of unhealthy and obese people that dont suffer from diabetes

its messed up though because if someone had a heart condition or terminal cancer and some stranger joked about it on the internet theyd widely be viewed as a piece of shit, but if its diabetes some people think they can tease and shame about it

Unless youre like 7 feet tall youre obese my dude. Get out and get some fresh air instead of sitting at the computer all day. A good 15-20 minute walk around the neighborhood everyday would do you good.

WTH? 248 isn't bad, it's almost my ideal weight at 6"1 (220 when I qualified for the special forces but I could easily have added mass/muscle at that point (I was 17).

I'm an ogre, not obese, I have a bit of a gut but you can't even tell it from most pictures (I've posted plenty here).

Also ya'll need to lay off talking about people with diabetes weight it's freaking messed up. My wife gained 100 pounds because of the insulin she was put on (she was insulin resistant) and I gained 20 pounds when I was put on glyberid. Before that I was 250...and at 250 I could still horizontal climb on the climbing machine at the Metrion in San Jose (it speeds up vertically then moves to horizontal), there was no way you'd say I was out of shape at 250.

So yeah, alot of people with diabetes have extra weight, but sometimes it's cause of the meds they are taking, even working out (which I did 2 hours a day for the 6 months after I started taking gylberide) doesn't stop it. I was seriously pissed when I ended up 17 pounds heavier after working out all summer.

Americans have gotten used to being fat so now people with sizeable guts are thought of as average. Most people are surprised when they learn that they are obese. And unless you have a ton of muscle mass, 250lbs definitely will be obese or very close if you are around 6' tall
