I usually get ants in the spring and manage to effectively eradicate them. This year they actually skipped my house but instead a different... more devious pest has come. No, not bed bugs... Id burn the house if it was that. Instead its German roaches.

These little nazi bastards are in my garage. Its where I keep the trash bags.

I have a friend thats an exterminator and has quoted me so cheap that it doesnt even make sense. BUT... Im not a fan of spraying chemicals in my home or whatever it is theyre going to do.

So, Im thinking... since theyre only in the garage... what if I get a natural predator for them? A spider!

Will a spider kill them? And if so... which kind? Keep in mind that I have kids and dont need a spider thatll turn on us in the end.

The reason they're cheap is because they're a real hazard if they are allowed to hive.

Funny you say that you would burn if it was bed bugs and not German roaches. My wife would probably blow our house up with everything inside of it if we had german roaches. I can't even say the word roaches around her without her freaking out

I got my guy coming. Its a bomb/spray that sprays the place. I must remove my hedgehogs, bearded dragon, and Dubia roaches when they come treat the home. We have to be gone for 4 full hours.

The spray is harmless to humans but deadly to pests once it dries. I dont know the validity of that statement.

German roaches are pretty much ugly to look at. But they dont bite me in the middle of the night while Im trying to sleep. Realistically... if they all magically turned into ladybugs that behaved like German roaches, I wouldnt give a shit.

Getting a little boric acid and stuffing it inside big cracks and against the wall will do wonders for them too.

What happens is that theyll walk over the powder and then clean themselves of later (with their mouths), the boric acid then get into their bodies and kills them. And since roaches eat other dead roaches, youre spreading the poison even more efficiently.

Maybe throw a few mothballs in front of the door out of your garage too. Try not to keep garbage in there too long. At best, an afternoon.

But definitely get the chemical treatment too.

I've only ever had to deal with wood roaches. They don't infest so I just catch them with my hands and take them outside. Cute and harmless.

as a poor kid that bounced around households a lot, there were a couple times that I lived in some cheap roach infested trailer

they are disgusting and once they really infest a home they can take a long time to completely get rid of

You can spray all you want but until you remove the source for why they are there they will just show up again.

It's like trying to get rid of moles. You can trap the moles all you want but until you kill the grubs that infest your yard that they are eating, they will just come back.

Stop keeping your trash in your garage. Put it in a clean bin outside. Clean your garage. Make sure it is dry.

Dirty houses attract dirty pests.

I thought ants and centipedes were bad but by far the worst bugs I ever had was when I lived in Ohio and had a massive infestation of earwigs in my basement.

Those fucking things are disgusting.

Anyhow I like most insects. Ones that fly tend to irk me though.
