Both OG Naruto and Shippuden both have glaring problems like plotholes, cringiness, and retcons being among the top ones.

I understand why people might think the series is cool, and I would feel incline to agree with them because there are certain things that I like about Naruto as well, but the amount of people that defend what are all valid criticisms in my opinion is insane.

I'm a fan of Naruto purely because of the music. I don't think I've seen more than a handful of episodes.

Every single night I put on my orange Naruto pajamas, slip into my racecar bed and let my imagination run wild with dreams of making love to Hinata while the real Naruto watches from the closet.

It's a love hate relationship for me

It's the anime that got me into anime. But it also sucks.

There are fans for any series ever that will defend everything related to it. I try not to do it myself, but even I do.

I love Naruto, every show has flaws and issues regardless. But I fuckin hate Boruto, didn't start of that way though. I also like Boruto and defended it, until a certain thing happened and now I hate that fuckin show. Fuck Boruto.

What happened in Boruto? I only seen like 4 episodes of the first season and it seemed ok

No he isn't the spoiler, I liked him also. Like I said I loved the show, I liked a lot of the new characters. Just the spoiler thing happened and I refuse to watch it. I won't tell you what it is, some people didn't mind and defend it. Maybe you won't be bothered or it isn't that big of a deal to you. When it happens though, you will know instantly what I was talking about.

Apparently certain characters were revealed as aliens all along in Boruto. Kaguya Otsuki being an alien and thus all descendants within her two clans in modern day also being part-alien.

Makes more sense than demons

That was revealed in Shippuden

Naruto was very popular among children. Children like things for illogical reasons and adult children don't break that habit just because they're technically adults.

Also, at least its not Boruto. Naruto is what got me into actively watching current anime and I have good memories of it despite it mostly being a confusing mess I barely remember past a certain point but good lord is Boruto just utter dogshit. Its even worse than Super and that shit is the Dragon Ball equivalent of Fifty Shades of Grey.

This statement can apply to any franchise or IP in media. Anime, video games, manga, film, TV. They all have flaws, and people will either be willing to ignore them or not.

Regardless of what you're asking this question about, if they minded the flaws you're pointing out, they wouldn't be fans in the first place. Axiomatically, people become fans of something because they're able to overlook the flaws to enough of an extent that they can enjoy the good aspects.

The real question is why you're trying to convince people not to like a piece of entertainment. The purpose of consuming entertainment is to be entertained. If somebody has succeeded at that goal, trying to undermine that success by pointing out why they shouldn't be having fun is just being a dick for no reason. Unless they're hurting others, let people enjoy things.

Kishimoto side-lined the Konoha 12 and others.
He made Sasuke an edge-lord.
He gave Naruto constant power ups.
The constant ret-cons and plot holes.
Writing the war-Arc which in my opinion ruined the whole series.
Making Kaguya the final villian and adding in aliens
Making Naruto and Sasuke reincarnations of Asura and Indra.

You want a plothole? Here's one.

The Akatsuki rings were set up during the Kazekage retrieval Arc. But that set up never paid off because Kishimoto wither abandoned it, or he forgot about it.

Here's another one. Where did Itachi get those weapons that he used with his Susanoo to remove the curse mark from Sasuke?

I got one more for you. How was Obito able to put the 3rd Mizukage who was a perfect Jinchuriki when Sasuke was unable to put Killer B-who is also a perfect Jinchuriki- in a genjutsu as well.

There are plenty of fan bases (like SW) that hates on everything besides the original series/movie/book

Naruto was pretty cool and could be funny. I liked what was basically a gag ending where (real ending spoilers) their fight ended with their blood pooling together like they were holding hands.

Land of Waves arc has one of my favorite endings ever. I wish it kept that energy but really nailed the rest of the characters for the rest of the run. Imo it was really boring for most of its second half except for some trashy bits where the mangaka basically manipulated the audience with bullshit revivals.

as with any series, I recommend reading it, not watching it.
