I kinda wanted to be a storm chaser after watching the original Twister. Too bad Bill Paxton and Phillip Seymour Hoffman are not around today for the sequel.

original is one of those generationally defining movies that I totally skipped because I had no interest in it as a kid lol

Sorry, I'm just not into the Twister Cinematic Universe without the main hero in it.

I said to my wife like 10 seconds in "This reminds me of that old Twister movie" and the trailer looked a lot like the first, characters also.

Didn't see that sequel coming.

One of the funniest things is that the tornado chasers still have crowds of fans following them. You'd think they'd update that in the age of live streaming.

They even still seem to be using traditional cameras even though their fans are using smartphones.

Same, and to this day I'm still fascinated by tornadoes. I might still become one later on in life, we got so much cool tech now like drones that could get fantastic footage from a safe distance.

When i was around 5-6 year old kid I thought placing a bunch of ice cubes in a tornado's path could stop it. So I thought the characters in Og Twister were silly for not doing that.

Holy fuck not only did I forget that this movie was in the works, I thought it released already in like 2022. And damn yeah at least 2 of its alumni have passed away, Bill and Philip.

I love the original and I'll probably find like most stuff these days it doesn't hold up at all to the original. I'll give it a watch but admittedly I'm already thinking it will suck.

Side note I often forget how young some people on gamefaqs are when they talk about being kids and being so young when the original came out.

I was a few days old baby when Twister came out. I saw it in early 2000s

I love how in the original movie the sentient tornado chased them around and could pick up a tractor and a house, but not them, especially after they tie themselves down to a pipe and is barely able to lift them off the ground, so it dissipates in defeat immediately afterward.

yeah I think this is definitely a reboot. they have satellites now, they don't need to launch soda cans into tornados from the back of pickup trucks anymore

Watching this again, good lord this is silly. IIRC that's an F5 in the movie (the enhanced Fujita scale wasn't in use yet), which that building would be leveled by just being near that behemoth, much less being directly hit by it, and a grounded pipe wouldn't stand a chance. A leather strap isn't going to do crap to hold you down.

Also, I remember seeing this in theaters when I was 6, and had a poster that sat across my bed from my poster for the movie Volcano (which I didn't see in theaters or IIRC even saw then); I'm 34 now.

Pretty sure I could credit it with helping break me of the country music hell I grew up in.

The GAME OVER MAN line made the original. As long as they worked that in this may be good

Yup, I get recommended his videos all the time. I have a tornadoes playlist on YouTube and lots of his made the list. Love the one where tornado crosses practically in front of him ravaging the outside of a Walmart. I get chills whenever I watch it.

Calling it now, the last and biggest/most powerful tornado at the end will actually be possessed by Jonas Miller as he gets his revenge.

I read somewhere that Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt could not stand each other on set. When Universal made the Twister park attraction, they had to film them separately.

Dante's Peak would be interesting, maybe it would give Pierce Brosnan a good gig since he stopped being James Bond.

Honestly that might be my favorite 90's disaster movie because....well I dunno. I saw it on TV randomly one day when I was 8 or so when the actual eruption started, where you see I-90 collapse (which, fun fact, that interstate does run through Wallace, ID where the movie was filmed) and you see Pierce drive through a river and the car unrealistically doesn't immediately die.
