I respect having a lot of the other midcarders on your list, like Vincent or Sub-Zero, who might not be locks to make the bracket depending on field size, but Chief missing the contest would take something truly insane and could go down as the biggest non-2002/2006 snub ever. Edward Kenway from Assassin's Creed IV is voiced by the incomparable Matt Ryan. Darth Revan is not even voice acted in Knights of the Old Republic. For that reason alone, Edward Kenway is a much better choice for this contest. Revan has to use force powers in combat and in conversations in order to achieve his goals. Kenway is able to find Macguffin at the end of the game just like Revan without using Force abilities. Edward Kenway has already gotten laid at the beginning of his game and Revan might not even reach that point if you play the game wrong. Edward Kenway steals a much bigger ship than Revan steals near the beginning of their respective games. Revan requires Kaiden Alenko to pilot his ship, but Kenway is able to pilot his ship himself. Also, Revan is not able to utilize his ship to destroy capital ships, while Kenway is able to take down a host of legendary capital ships.

Jim Raynor smokes, which is a danger to himself and others. Edward Kenway does not smoke, and he is a much better role model for children. Including your own child. You would be far better off sharing the stories of the Robin Hood-like Edward Kenway with your child than the boozing and carousing villain that is Jim Raynor. The boozing is especially terrible because he is driving power armor in an inebriated state; the potential for damage or injury is tremendous. When Kenway is inebriated, he has much more time to steer his ship away from danger. Furthermore, his Eagle Vision allows him to react with a much higher potential of aversion from disaster. Therefore, Kenway is the hero our children need in this time of political discontent.

Let's be honest, Dante doesn't need the nom. He's getting in. He always gets in because he's cool.

But do you know what's cooler?

A walking mass of armor with a living sword that feeds on the souls of all he defeats in battle.

Nightmare from Soulcalibur is a better use of a nomination. For one, he's not a lock, so he needs the noms... But at the same time, he's been in several previous contests before with small rally help, so he definitely has a better chance than Rando John #47 to not be a wasted nom. He has also never been straight up fodder in any contest he's been in. What makes it further interesting is that SoulCalibur 6 comes out in just a few weeks, and it's a reboot to the SC1/SC2 timeline. That's when Nightmare was at his best/most powerful, so there's definitely going to be some awesome peak soul devouring going on. It will be interesting to see how much this impacts his contest strength, since he already tends to get the "looks cool" vote from casuals enough to put him above the fodder line.

There's not much cooler than a sword with an eye that literally consumes the life force of its opponents, nor the dark knight that wields it. And with an actual reason to expect atleast a mild boost coming up, it makes things interesting.

I believe that Edward has more to lose than Ezio or Altair in their games. Neither of them are fighting through the entire game based simply on the loose promise that they may find a way to a better life with their family. In the end, the tragedy is that Kenway is swept up into the conspiracies of the Templars and Assassins and it leaves his wife to suffer. Kenway still nobly chooses to fulfill the job of a father and sets aside the life of an assassin and pirate because he knows his family comes first. And I find that noble. Kenway isn't a womanizer; he isn't a particular miscreant. He's Robin Hood. Altair is fighting for himself first and foremost, and Ezio is looking for perpetual revenge. Kenway takes up the flag of the assassins because eventually simply realizes it's the right thing to do. And it's nice to have a hero like that. He makes a sacrifice because he doesn't necessarily have to involve himself with the assassins. He could walk away. But he feels that compunction to do the right thing - and by doing so, he loses the chance to be with his wife.

Here's Nightmare defeating Siegfried, the knight who he used to possess. Siegfried broke free due to outside intervention, but the sword Nightmare carries (Soul Edge) possessed the suit of armor, keeping Nightmare "alive." Furthermore, Siegfried wields Soul Calibur, a sword specifically meant to counter and defeat Soul Edge/Nightmare. Here, he defeats him and takes his soul, giving himself and the sword a pretty much unbeatable level of power:

Unfortunately, SoulCalibur hasn't really had a game since fighting games went into heavily cinematic storylines, so it's kinda stuck to endings. Though SoulCalibur 6 will probably have more.

Why would she be not forgotten by me? Tell me who this sweet character is and why they are. Not just that they are. I mean, especially if you are gonna try and tackle a titan of Master Chief who is the main character of probably my favorite game of all time.

She's sweet because she tries to make everyone at school feel included. She tries to see the good in and forgive those who have wronged her. She wont be forgotten because, there is a scene where she's on top of a roof and you have to talk her out of jumping. If you screw up, she's gone. It's a really intense and emotional scene and to top it all off, there is a time-travel mechanic that allows you to undo your mistakes, including deaths, but because of a convenient plot device, hers is the only preventable death in the game that you cant rewind if you mess up, so the stakes are extremely high.

But I didn't realize Halo was your favorite. I understand not wanting to remove Chief that being the case.
