At least as far as 1st party controllers go. Aside from the fact that they all have horrible malfunctioning parts, theyre really uncomfortable and just all around bad.

Theyre also $80 a set

If you're not counting ones that are mushy and obscure, they're up there.

They come defective a lot, if the tiny piece of plastic breaks they slide off in the middle of Smash matches, and if you put an accessory on the wrong way you have to break it to get it off.

And the d-pad is just bad and the buttons should have been higher.

mine finally started drifting on the left joystick

I recalibrated it in the settings which fixed it for the time being but I imagine Ill have to get a replacement eventually

I pretty much made love to the N64 controllers while playing Wave Racer. I think many people did and the future controllers are weird because it's just the resulting babies.

You say it like I was angry at sony the whole time but really I just got an xbox instead of a ps2 and stuck with xbox since then, also I have never cared about any ps exclusive ever, otherwise I would have went with them; the only exclusives I care about are Pokemon and Smash Bros. The only games I have for any of my Xboxs are all multi platform

tbh battery life is pretty significant

and if you want to include the elite controllers those are also significant

the only nice thing the ds4 has over anything is the little speaker built in

really? 90% of N64 game just use the right buttons and joystick. it's not that hard to figure out
the D-pad and L button are mostly unused

as for Joycons, the only serious issue with them are the fucking cheap-ass sticks that wear out like nothing else. even the N64 controller had a more durable joystick and that was notorious for breaking easily as well

I've never had a real problem with any controller. The wii controllers would act up a bit sometimes (Even the advanced one with extra aiming or whatever it was), but I could still use them fine (they were probably my least favorite over all though).

N64, Gamecube, Dreamcast, Playstation, Xbox etc, all of them got the job done just fine. Even Jaguar was great for the few games it was worth playing on that system.

Probably because you had to thumb wrestle to use the stick with either hand unless your hands were the size of Tom Bombadil's hands.

Pretty much every game's manual showed how you were supposed to hold them, and for those that didn't, it was pretty easy to infer how you should hold it based on the fact that the joystick was used and the D-pad wasn't (or vice versa, for the tiny handful of games that did use the D-pad instead of the joystick).

It's funny you claim to have never used the DS 4 but proclaim that the Xbox 360/One controllers are the greatest of all time. Personally I'll say PS has always had the better controllers. I found the Xbox 360 controllers to be more weighty and don't get me started on the none internal battery. Granted I've not used a Xbox One controller but they don't seem much different at all.

Despite selling far fewer consoles the Xbox controller beats the ps controller in every poll I've ever seen. Ps is decent, but Microsoft has distilled the Xbox controller to a controllers ideal form.

Gc controller is great for smash, and nothing else.

I didn't even know there was a switch pro controller, I didn't really like the natural switch controllers (especially using just one for some games). I will look into the pro.

The pro controller is really good, but agreed about the joycons in every regard, cheap and flimsy and the widespread drift problem that won't ever be fixed.

Nintendo are usually put on a pedestal, so doubt it'll really affect them majorly.

Nah. Sure it means you just need a new battery rather than a new controller but putting batteries in things, even more so control pads is a thing I can do without. The "play and charge" kits are shit too.
