It's funny how stupid people who want to make other people out to be stupid are.

Obviously, and I mean really obviously, the people stocking up on such non-perishables want to isolate themselves so as not to come into contact with others who could potentially be infected. If they run out of TP for example, they'd have to go out and take their chances with the infected. Is that smart? Probably not really, unless they're in their 70s or later, or have weakened immune systems. At least in that case there'd be some semblence of rationality behind their behavior, but I'd at least put their intelligence above those with similar mentalities as the TC here.

The idea is that if they're sick they may not be in shape to go to the store to get more.

TP is not a perishable item and is typically sold in packs of, like, 36. I always have a several-month supply handy.

I mean, there are way more important things to buy than toilet paper. If it really came down to an emergency where I couldn't leave the house it's not that hard to just jump in the shower after i shit. No need to run the store out of TP but like someone else said I usually have a bunch anyway

Sam's Club was almost completely out of bread and fresh meat. There were still plenty of canned goods on the shelves and the freezer cases were still well stocked.

And what's with people stocking up on bottled water. Do they think they'll get the coronavirus from tap water?

Fun Fact: 3.7% of people infected with the coronavirus experience diarrhea as a symptom. So maybe you should stock up on TP...

People are thinking there is a chance utilities like running water might shut down, and if that happens you need someone to wipe with that isn't your hand, as using bottled water to wash your hands when there is no running water and a rampant disease is a waste, and human waste is an easy way to spread disease.

If it's hard for you to wrap your head around, it's zombie apocalypse rules.
