I went almost blind on Shield(only looked up the final forms of the starters, which was good, because I almost went with the water one before looking at the ugly piece of shit it turns into), and man these Pokemon in the starting area are awesome! I usually don't like to catch a bunch of Pokemon at the start, but I'm already filling my team out a bit.

Already caught an electric dog named The Joy, and the water snapping turtle named Liquid. If they keep showing me cool and adorable Pokemon like this, my team will be filled before the first gym battle!

Yeah, that's the one thing I always have to do no matter what. Don't want to roll the dice on that. I hated the fire starter's final form, so it was between the water amphibian and the grass monkey. I wasn't really sold on either. Well, the grass one would have been okay if the art, etc, I saw didn't always show him with the drums (which are kinda stupid) and I wasn't sure he just carried the fucking things around, which is why I finally went with the water one.

And just looking now, Cinderace's shiny doesn't look terrible... although I can't imagine trying to repeatedly re-roll for a shiny.... well, again, since I tried it once and gave up.

I think at least one of the early things stays useful. Usually I like the early designs, but they're kinda rubbish for gameplay.

Inteleon looks weird at first, but grows on you fast. I mean its realyl well animated, and it even has nictitating membranes. Ive never met someone who chose it blind, and ended up regretting it.

That its absurdly powerful helps too. its the fastest and most powerful of the starters. Its signature move has a secret increased critical hit ratio and its Hidden Ability may not be Protean-but-with-a-different-name, but Sniper is really good with its increased criticals. Especailly since Snipe Shot and its Gigantamax move can't be redirected.

You've got one turn to take it down. If you don't, there's no coming back from that.

They did. In fact with the season pass you can get practically any legendary you want before the first gym.

Eh, fuck that weird shit, and I'm not trying to play competitively for this game. I was a beast OU player in 4th gen, and a pretty damn good UU player in 5th gen, but I lost motivation after that. The grass one's final form was the least hideous, so I went with that one.

I was never into the KISS dudes. At least it's better than a jugglo piece of shit though.

BTW, I'm having a blast with this game so far. I held off on getting it until now because of the negative press about this game, but it seems fun so far. It's so fun that I don't know when I'll start the Cybersleuth games.(got it with Pokemon Shield)

The DLC should scale to the number of gym badges you have.

dont worry, they made sword and shield super easy so youll be over leveled as fuck and OHKO literally everything in the game regardless if you grind or not.

I found out that it's because of the Gigantamax Eevee thing. Apparently I need to get some soup thing to turn it into a Flareon.(which is great, because that's the quest I'm on right now)

Apparently coming to the Isle of Armor before doing anything in the main game was a huge mistake. All the interesting Pokemon are "too strong to catch".
