To be honest I remember the room, the TV being carted into the room and a few faces but I cant even remember what was being taught in that class room, maybe it was a study hall? Teachers reminded us that we would never forget where we were at the time, like the people didnt forget when Pearl Harbor happened.

i probably couldnt walk back to the exact spot where I learned it happened now that I think about it.

I was in my 2nd grade class and they announced it on the intercom. Feel like that was weird. Dunno what a bunch of toddlers are supposed to do with that info lol

Never. I was at school, unless it happened on a weekend then I was probably at home.

Was in high school and they were watching it unfold on a TV in one of the classrooms I thought it was an accident until I got home

I didn't know what was going on, all I knew was that all of my friends got to leave school early except for me.

10th grade History, coincidentally. The vice principal knocked on the door while we watched a movie, and the teacher just waved at him. He just walked away annoyed, and later learned he was trying to tell us about it. Didn't know what was going on until 2nd period. Then the 2nd plane hit

Surreal is often overused, but that's the best way to describe the feeling. A bunch of people just walked around in a daze after that

I was at school, 9 years old. I remember coming home and everyone in my family (mom, brother, grandfather, grandmother, uncles) were all watching the news.

I went downstairs and watched cartoons and had no idea what was happening until the next day at school.

Nope. I was in my 10th grade Spanish class when everything happened.

I was on night shift at the time. I'd done a 12 hour and got home and gone to bed. My dad woke me up, he was in turmoil, he put the news on.
Shocking scenes, and I do mean absolutely shocking.

I'm in the UK and it was still an absolutely unbelievable thing to see, like something from a disaster film. The people jumping from the windows, I don't think I could even imagine what those people were going through.

Nope. I was waiting at the bus stop in 8th grade, a kid told me about what he saw on the news and showed me the date on his watch, and all morning in class the teacher had the news running. I didn't really fully understand it all, my mom was freaking out and crying since my brother was serving in the Guard at the time.

I was home for some reason when it happened watching TV. My mom called me from work and said they were evacuating and was like don't go outside, we're under attack.

I don't even live in New York but everyone was freaking out hard since who knows where the next plane may drop. It was fucking bizarre and confusing. The news made it sound like we were being invaded or something and no one knew what was happening.

I live near Oak Ridge TN - one of the places involved in the Manhattan Project - and still has several nuclear facilities and reactors.

Several of the students that could drive checked out that day and drove to Kentucky because they were afraid Oak Ridge could be next.

I woke up, and they were talking about a plane hitting the WTC on NPR. I figured a small business jet, and I turned on a TV to see, and when I saw it, it was obvious that it wasn't no Cessna.

I was getting up & getting ready to head to class when the 2nd plane hit. My gf at the time said college was out for the day, so we went to my parents' shop & watched TV with them for a bit to find out more.

5th grade at home, first day of suspension for threatening some dickwad who stole my test.

Sleeping after a long hard night of Final Fantasy VII.

Dropped off about 5:00.

My sis was up that morning getting ready for some community college class.

She woke me telling that one of the big buildings in NY was on fire.

I watched for about 10 minutes and seen the other get hit.

It was my senior year. mom woke me up to go to school and we usually watched the news. Saw that one tower was on fire. Then watched live when the other hit. I remember thinking "is that a replay" then noticed both towers were on fire. That's when I realized it was no accident.

Study hall, senior year of high school. No one was doing anything, iirc I was watching over someone's shoulder as they played Tetris on Gameboy. Some kid burst into the room, turned on the TV, and ran out. While everyone was confused by the random guy, we each began to realize the reason over the next few seconds. There was some confusion at first, but then it was silence.

Classes switched shortly after, but that day was all just watching the news. Except for one teacher who refused, and said we could watch it at home instead and gave us a big assignment anyway lol.

I stayed glued to the news all day. I live in a small town so figured it wouldn't be a target.

I really don't know what the terrorists were trying to accomplish. Did they think this would take America out or what? They lost their lives for nothing and their country was occupied for the next 20 years.

In my grandma's sister's apartment in Queens, saw the smoke outside the window and we were watching the news. I was 6 at the time and it was in a period when I was changing schools (we moved to NJ at the time) so for a few days I went to one of the PS schools in NYC across the street.

I was out of school, having graduated in 2,000. I worked the late shift at Dominos out of school, so literally any other day I would have been sleeping, but for some reason I woke up early that day. I turned on the TV and my parents had been watching the news (Ugh, Fox News too) and they were reporting on "some kind of accident or explosion at the World Trade Center". I stuck with it to see what was going on.

They began reporting a plane had hit it and they started showing video. I thought it must have been some kind of small single prop plane or something like that, because, I mean how does a large plane accidentally fly into a building like that, right? And then I watched the second plane hit live.

I remember having to take a few to really process what I had just seen, telling myself that I didn't just see what I saw.

But yeah, I watched every bit of it live.

It's definitely not something I would forget. Unfortunately tragedy and revenge beget tragedy and revenge and it's given us a license to conduct illegal forever wars on an entire region, for money. It's insulting and offending to me to know how rich some people got off of 9/11.

School. I didn't know what the twin towers were until I saw the news footage later in the day, so I just assumed it was some small local plane crash at the time.

Getting ready for school. Radio show I listened to was uncharacteristically serious. Said to turn on tv. I go to living room and change to the news channel. See the second building hit live. Parents behind me watching. I don't remember what they say. Maybe they didn't know what to say.

They had planned more attacks after that to throw the nation in panic and ultimately thought they would conquer us. "Paper tiger" was the view of our power. They had done Khobar towers, USS Cole, etc. and were hitting us on a global scale without much pushback before 9/11, so they were emboldened and thought they could just keep going. When the masterminds were asked about it at Guantanamo, they thought the most the west would do was revenge airstrike a couple of their camps and it'd be over in a week. They didn't think we'd go to war with them.

Yeah this really important politician was reading us a book then a guy came into the room and whispered to the guy, then the politican finished the book and left.

Now that I'm older I realize, that politician was Albert Einstein.

Joking aside, I was having breakfast and heard/ saw stuff on the tv. Then went to the bus stop because why would something across the country affect us? And then after like 45 minutes I tried to go back home but my mom yelled at me for trying to skip school and made me wait more. Like an hour later I went to a friend's house since they also were still waiting for the bus, and when my mom figured out where I was I got scolded.
