it was bad. generic quests 95% of the time. i'd rather play new vegas 100 more times or even fallout 3 is better

I never played Fallout 4. Or new Vegas. I was hoping this game would be elder scrolls in space. That was supposedly the idea I thought. I have not watched the trailer. But I heard it was very disappointing. Something about it looking more like No Man's Sky

twitch and youtube chat plus this topic make me sad.. it looks outstanding imo. theres literally no pleasing the gamers these days ._.

i played a bit of star citizen during the free trial, and boy the shitty always online mmo thing is strangling that game to death. a single player curated world that isn't reliant on a boiling server would be amazing. that said its fucking bethesda so I'm expecting all sorts of jank anyway, but if this game has mod support then imagine what people can do with all that land to work with.

it has like 1000s planet = procedural generation = shit

Fallout 4 was beyond fixing with mods, and it really didn't help that all the modders spent their time on the shitty settlement system instead of making the game good. At least Bethesda's other games get good with mods. This just looks like Fallout 4 combined with No Man's Sky and Star Citizen, none of the three games mentioned being any good.

I think that's the worst thing I have heard about it. I dont want a bunch of generic planets. I'd rather have like 30 maybe, carefully crafted worlds you go to. Or however many towns are in skyrim, have that many planets. Something like that

I'm interested. Fallout 4 was a meh Fallout game but it was a fun enough action game. Starfield doesn't really have the same baggage.

Looks exactly like what I expected and wanted. I want to play it like right now and the wait is even more terrible.

Fallout 4 Modding was hampered for a long time because of the voiced protagonist. It took quite awhile before people had a workable dialogue "fix" mod that didn't make it a nightmare to mod out. There was also a pretty heavy (in modding terms) delay on the actual mod tools, not to mention Bethesda trying to curtail mods being created without their Creation Kit, updates to the exe constantly bricking the script extender. Fallout 4 was really scuffed in getting mods rolling and a lot of people went back to Skyrim because of Special Editions and it had a plethora of tools already made for it.

Not to mention Fallout modding scenes pale in comparison to Elder Scrolls and it was a recipe for disaster.

I think it looks a little uninspired, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be bad.

What WILL mean it will be bad is the fact it probably will release completely unplayable because Bethesda are making it. I can't imagine they will suddenly fix their reputation with this game.

1000 =/= infinite though. So I doubt it would be procedurally generated because they could just say infinite

I'm curious how the 1,000.planets work. I'm fine if 99% of it is completely desolate solely to give the impression of a vast galaxy. But the stuff of interest should be found through quests, NPC's or looking at obvious landmarks.

Even then 1,000 planets is a lot.

C+ is still a better score than I'd give most of the AAA gaming industry rn

Same engine since Morrowind which is fucking sad tbh.

Got really disappointed when I saw its the exact same animation style when speaking to NPCs. How archaic.

The graphics don't even look that good either.

I plan on giving it at least a month after release before I decide. It's release state and the scope of the Day 1 patches will be a solid indicator where the game is at.

Its primarily the plot for me. The fact that they voiced the character and gave it a storyline in a way where you can't roleplay, or even create a character that isn't removed from the preset that they've given personality wise ruins the immersion. Makes your choices limited.

Oh, speaking of choices, the options you can choose are literal shit. Might as well have removed them altogether. The writing is fucking atriocious compared to New Vegas.

There are video online comparing them. New Vegas would go into some deep shit (For example, the conversation with Caesor when war is about to break out) and the choices were pretty complex. But Fallout 4 would be like "Duh don't do" "Okay".

They gutted a lot of the RPG elements that people play Fallout for just to be able to get the player to their next shooting encounter quicker

Dialogue options boil down to yes, sarcastic yes, I don't want to but yes, and I'll say yes later

Skill checks weren't as frequent or prevalent, I think you could count the number of Intelligence skills checks on one hand

Compare that to NV where you really felt like you were smarter than everyone else

But even if there were more skill checks, the voiced main character will constantly say shit you didnt expect him to say since there isn't much choice

The writing being so bad had a huge negative impact on the factions with many of them being idiotic or pointless

NV also had the brilliant idea to give you alternative dialogue options for some conversations if your character had an intelligence of 1. F4 by comparrison felt incredibly stripped down.

I bet that Starfield ends up feeling empty. I have a feeling 1000 planets is just going to be a whole lot of reused textures, fetch quests, etc.

While I am still interested in Starfield and am probably getting it day one, the 1000 planets thing seemingly hasn't been an interesting concept to anybody. I don't think people are turning on open world exploration entirely, but it's hard to care about procedurally generated worlds. They're just going to be used as the new radiant quests

It looks good, and even better that it's on gamepass.

I have high hopes, but I might wait 6 months after release for them to iron out the major bugs.

Making it so that the protagonist is silent is already a significant improvement over FO4 tbh

It seems like a relatively minor thing until you realize how much having a voiced protagonist informed the other role-playing elements of FO4. Namely in the fact that creating dialogue would be more expensive so they had to limit dialogue options.
