watching a full 12-hour playthrough on youtube (not likely that I'll play it). 20 minutes in now and... interesting way to start the game (actually got this from someone else's comment on the video but I was thinking the exact same thing. I don't know if they meant it in a good way or a bad way but I mean it in a good way).

I like to believe Astral Chain is set far in the future of Bayonetta's universe just because of that cameo, lol.

Funny enough there's an Astral Chain "ability" in the game.

Since a lot of the game is constantly sending out demons as assists, you end up unlocking an ability that allows you to do a summon attack at the end of a combo, just like an Astral Chain Sync Attack.

I am a big fan of the yo-yo weapon

Didn't have much more time to play this evening. Went to a friend's Halloween party, so I'm just after Side 1.

So wait a minute. I played the intro and prologue stages and I've got a theory but I'm gonna spoiler it just in case.

Is Bayonetta 3 implying that 1 and 2 were different universes rather than just some weird time loop? Because the intro stage shows Bayonetta from her outfit in 1 dying before Viola gets sent to another universe.

Also I'm sure I'm not going to get a lot of pushback on this but there is no reason for us having to manually apply Witch Hearts and Moon Pearls, as opposed to previous games where they just automatically were spent upon completion.

They just wanted a couple more items in the "Bayonetta" section of the skills.

Also, anyone wondering about the progression of Alfheim in B1, Muspellheim in B2, and now Ginnungagap in B3, the Ginnungagap is the void in Norse myth that preluded the formation of the realms.

EDIT: Never mind, the Ginnungagap is the area you travel between realities. The challenge areas are, surprise, Niflheim. Honestly that's what I expected so I was a bit surprised.

They sorta justify it with Viola. They don't share health or magic so you need to choose who gets what

By the way anyone having trouble with the Niflheim with the train try to just normally attack the flying enemy first to bring it down to your level. So much easier than trying to angle up to it.

I don't know why but I seem to love "Punch + Cheshire" more than Mab Dachi. Like it's not just Cheshire. I just seem to enjoy the speed and agility of punch-girling it.

Big day today. Completed both China and Egypt.

Egypt was a fun section. Feels like they just start throwing weapons and demons at you around there

Y'know honestly I didn't like Egypt all that much but maybe I was just getting fatigued after playing so much today.

Damn not gonna lie. Liking both fans and microphone.

Oh, and I wasn't really feeling the Pain Train, or perhaps we should call it a trainsaw?

I wasn't sure about the summon mechanic until that unlocked. Damn what a difference that makes.

He changed his mind after more evidence against Helena surfaced. He's just not very vocal about it, and I can understand why.

I'm kinda glad Taylor did end up putting her foot in her mouth because I don't think Hale is as good at all. Just sounds like Hale doing an impression.

So if I had the impression this happened because Platinum were being extra cheap I would have been more disappointed by it. But now it's just something that I understand that we just need to deal with.

I just finished chapter 12, the finale of the area after Egypt. You get possibly the weirdest summon and weapon combo, even more than train in that area. Also the big finale fight is the most rediculous thing in the game so far, in a good way, I loved it.

So far I've only been using the yoyo weapon and it's demon, it seems the best for traversal since you can just climb walls, and the weapon is really good. Still looking for a secondary weapon, preferably one with some crowd control but all the ones I got so far just seem too weak.

HOLY MONKEY that Nifheim took me a while.

I beat the game and uh....I have mixed feelings

I only had enough time tonight for 10.

lolol I've been hearing some garbaaaage about the ending. I'm looking forward to crashing into the trainwreck.

So I pushed myself to complete it and it wasn't so I could get the medal. The reason I did so was so I could become more comfortable with parrying. I figured if I could bang my head against the wall trying to parry my way to success instead of saying "screw it, I'll just throw out combos or let Cheshire take care of it and just take the hits and use items to heal" then I could improve my Viola game.

And it paid off for the fight at the end of Chapter 10. I did much better than I did in the boss fight with Viola in Egypt.

And I know a lot of people are going to be thinking that Viola's Faerie Form is a Devil Trigger, but only in the narrative sense. It's actually a Legion Fusion from Astral Chain. Takes much longer to fill up than a DT, and the moveset is EXTREMELY similar to Legion Fusion.

Also remind me. I was always under the impression that using items affected your final rating in a chapter. Was it more punishing in the older games than in this one?

Finished the game last night.

I've never been one to care too much about the story of these games but that ending was just...bad.

They unceremoniously kill off Bayonetta, Jeanne and Luka all within the span of 30 minutes. I get they're pushing Viola to be the new face of the series but not only was she not that fun to play as, but they didn't really take many chances to flesh her out other than to spout quirky lines.

These characters deserved better, left a fairly bad taste in my mouth.

Oh.

It would appear I should go back through all the chapters and find all the Umbran Tears. >_>

Because each set of three unlocks actual side stuff.

Yup. The rewards for the rest of them are accessories and health/magic upgrades. You can still do them for the content though, and maybe there's a reward for doing them all at the end, but so far in 12 chapters that was the only instance of that type of reward.

Roger dodger. Maybe I'll just do Chapter 3 and move on. We'll see how I'm feeling.
