The spread of Covid-19 is no longer a global public health emergency, the World Health Organization declared on Friday.
For more than a year, the pandemic has been on a downward trend with population immunity increasing from vaccination and infection, mortality decreasing, and the pressure on health systems easing, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a press conference in Geneva.

This trend has allowed most countries to return to life as we knew it before Covid-19, Tedros said.
Its therefore with great hope that I declared Covid-19 over as a global health emergency, he said.
Nearly 7 million people have died from the virus worldwide since the WHO first declared the emergency on January 30, 2020, according to the U.N. organizations official data. Tedros said the the true death toll is at least 20 million.
The WHOs decision comes as the U.S. is set to end its national public health emergency on May 11.

id maybe get not putting them in the summary, but they arent even in the detailed section on page 9. same disclaimer.

why tell us to interpret them with caution when they aren't even in there?

Because the general public has a really hard time understanding error estimates, really variability in general. If you give an estimate, but the error bounds suggests that it's roughly uninterpretable, what will appear in the news the next day is the estimate, not the error bounds.

it's not clear that population density actually has a significant effect on how well a given area dealt (and continues to deal) with covid

I get that, I do. But it just doesn't sound like a valid reason to straight up hide data.

remember when the WHO was all like "lol it can't spread between humans very easily" at the start of the pandemic and then it started spreading between humans very easily and instead of changing their tune and aiding international efforts early on to battle the thing they doubled down and hampered everything because they are 100% compromised by China?
