Yes, people tend to look poorly on surrender to a fascist power.

Furthermore it seems they're still not entirely sure whether they're breaking the law or not if they can waffle on this, and I for one wouldn't be convinced that there wouldn't actually be an attempt to abuse the law upon them regardless.

It's not ideal, but railing against the convention could convince them to pack up and move elsewhere, which could hurt Florida's tourism trade by convincing other cons to do the same; which is sadly the only effective route available to get through to the thickheaded state legislature.

I get it, they want to do the convention and not have to deal with Florida's fascists showing up and shutting them down and arresting the people involved, which is laughable, but it's a possibility at this point.

I tend to be of the opinion that you should tell the state to fuck off, but I can make that decision as an individual. I'm not responsible for whatever happens if Florida cops show up, people push back, and shit gets violent. Whoever has to make that decision is and I don't envy that position.

Especially if shit does go bad and they are found in violation of Florida's fucked up laws, most of these types conventions operate on shoestring budgets, and sort of legal wrangling could literally be the end of the convention permanently.

They're letting the fascists win. Considering the TN supreme court found their anti-drag laws to be unconstitutional because it blatantly violates free speech, they'd have to be real right-wing extremists to not find a similar ruling in regards to this.

And before someone goes "lol its Florida", yes, however a conservative majority appellate court unanimously told Judge Aileen Canon to go fuck herself and to cut her shit out when she very blatantly tried to interfere in the DOJ's investigation without any just cause or precedence. So it is possible to see actual justice come from conservative judges.

She's 100% going to try to interfere again with his indictments on the matter, so hopefully it goes to the same appellate court.
