The creator later explained that the lower left quadrant could mean a lot of things, including a character's dislike or refusal of the idea of the supernatural. I guess they felt Kirigiri was a little too grounded in reality vs. Shuichi.

Honestly, nobody should realistically be able to solve the case unless they have supernatural powers themselves. L basically got divine revelations.

Steve from Blues Clues could definitely solve it. He has the help of the world's children. He'd use his vast information network to have them point everything out to him.

Frankly it feels like the whole "grounded" bit is waaay more important to them than anything else. For instance, neither Sam nor Max should at all be able to intuit the Death Note at all (though they would eventually goofball their way into solving everything) yet they are in the top left quadrant because they aren't grounded in the slightest.

Nah, they deal with the supernatural on a pretty regular basis. I feel that's another element to the "intuit" section.

Why are there so many lawyers on this detective list? Why would Attorney Woo have anything to do with solving a case? She doesn't. She finds legal avenues for her clients to win legal cases, or in some cases (stop saying case) get out of legal issues all together so they can have beautiful lesbian weddings.

Glad we all agree that Saihara is infinitely superior to Kirigiri.

While true they absolutely never actually solve crap until it is spelled out to them. Out of the entire originals + Telltale series I want to say that they, maybe, actually solve a good half dozen of the mysteries prior to it being shown/told to them, and the ones that they do solve are almost exclusively solved because it's funnier that way.

Even blown up, it's hard to see...

And if that's Zenigata, then fucking bullshit that he's on the "can't solve" side of the quadrant.

(Could also be Zenigata in top-left quad [where he belongs], just under Batman? Why would they not use more iconic images of the characters.... it's so hard to make out....)

TBF, in Lights case I think one could.

The man got so arrogant and cocky he practically begged to be caught. He would have never gotten caught if he kept his ego in check and played things more cautious and strategically.

Right, but I think the issue is the same issue as something like say... Persona 4, where there's no real way for anyone to find that out without somehow being aware that super natural things actually exist in the world.

IE, Phoenix Wright might be able to figure it out by virtue that there IS super natural stuff in the world-- and more specifically, he's aware of it. But most others? No real chance.

I don't know much about Death Note, but I was just looking to see if Columbo was in the right spot. Love the inclusions of Frank Drebin, Dirty Harry Callahan, Cole Phelps, and Charlie from Always Sunny.

It's missing some famous detectives like Jake Gittes and Sam Spade, unless I'm overlooking them, but I guess noire detectives are already pretty represented.

Persona fans would sooner include Adachi as a detective before including Katsuya smh
