"The first" is kind of nebulous and vague. It's not like they had a literal agenda where it was like "get group A first, then get group B, then C etc"

Trans were however targeted even before Jews because that was an easier sell to moderates at the time. It was the gateway to Nazism for a lot of people. Trans care had advanced in Germany farther than anywhere else in the world at the time and the Nazis undid it all in a matter of days.

She doesn't want to acknowledge what people have been telling her for years, that she's become like the very villains she used to write about.

Acknowledging that trans people were persecuted in any way, shape, or form is a frightening step towards empathy that she refuses to take. Denial and revisionism are much safer avenues for her.

Even if you don't really know anything about how trans people were treated in Nazi Germany, the claim that Nazis, the group best known for rounding up and killing socially marginalized groups, actually totally loved trans people should seem transparently farcical. And as a rule, if you find yourself engaging in Nazi-related historical revisionism in order to justify your views, it is probably time to rethink some things.

Most Harry Potter fans are ignoring the controversy of Rowling, it doesn't affect their views of the series one way or another, and trying to guilt them into not supporting the series isn't going to happen, so don't try.

At this point there are three groups. Those who gave up on the franchise because of Rowling's personal behavior, those who agree with her and support her more because of it, and the average Harry Potter franchise fan who doesn't care and isn't paying attention. That last third is the largest group and I hold nothing against them.

You can try to hide behind semantics like Rowling and her "your source doesn't say they were the first and they didn't destroy all of it" to claim you aren't defending her but when your every action is to derail the topic away from Rowling then defending is exactly what you are doing.

You aren't garbage and aren't transphobic just because you read something written by the transphobe... if things worked that way, every single person in America would be racist due to having been subjected to Donald Trump's bullshit speeches.

It's honestly crazy, like she could've been known as a beloved children author if she would've kept her mouth shut, but is going to be known forever as a crazy TERF that is so anti-man that they think trans-women are just men trying to get the benefits of being a women. There is a nuance discussion to be had about those who are diagnosed with gender dysmorphia and those that aren't, but I doubt that's something JK Rowling would even know about.

Anyways I always thought of her as a lousy author (notice anything she wrote outside of Harry Potter either don't sell very well and/or don't get good critical reception. She's just a one hit wonder that got really lucky. My wife loves Harry Potter, but after watching the movies I think Harry Potter is a terribly written character all around.

It's still possible, I could do that with Kanye West old stuff...but it makes it really hard to say it out loud in public that I like his old stuff in fear of getting cancelled. That's probably how my wife feels about JK Rowling and Harry Potter.

Even further back, Chevalier d' Eon who lived through 1720's to 1810 lived more of her life as a woman and multiple cultures have had non-binary gender identities stretching back into the BCs.

Being trans and non-binary have existed orders of magnitude longer than the people decrying those identities.
