Wow Galaxy 1 currently has a 1 vote lead...on Persona 4.
And if the current results stay as they are, the only current-gen games that will remain undefeated will be...Brawl and Twilight Princess, the posterboys of how "bad" this gaming generation has been. Wonderful.
EDIT: Oh wow I forgot Trials and Tribulations! Essentially a board 8 fan favorite!
Still! You don't see nearly as much hate for stuff like Assassin's Creed II, Fallout 3, or Batman: Arkham Asylum, do you?
BTW I honestly think Uncharted 2 would beat any current-gen game aside from Brawl and the Ace Attorneys. It really created an impression when it got close to FFX, and it did better against Metroid Prime than Half-Life 2 did.
As for Brawl and Twilight Princess, I don't hate either game. I don't understand people who feel significantly strongly about Brawl, but to their own I suppose. Twilight Princess is one of my favorite games and I even prefer it to Ocarina of Time (although it's still only my 4th favorite Zelda when all things are considered, heck I voted for Link's Awakening over Twilight Princess earlier on because I think I'd like that game more).
Ugh Brawl and TP in the finals, that would signal that it's about time to leave this board. I think we need another round of OOT vs. FFVII, and Link vs. Cloud, for the site contests. In fact, why not have an all Nintendo/Square contest? That way we can throw out all the boring (read: non-Nintendo/Square) characters.
LeonhartFour posted... Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (Nintendo Objections Conference) (4-3) 24 (44.44%) Final Fantasy VIII (Games of the Decades Conference) (4-3) 30 (55.56%) --FFVIII weathered the early anti-vote storm to come back and win the match.
Final Fantasy VI (Twilight Barrel Galaxy Conference) (5-2) 28 (52.83%) #12 Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Cult RPG Galaxy Conference) (6-1) 25 (47.17%) --FFVI strikes a blow to Mario 8 with its win over Galaxy 2.

On the bright side, Galaxy 2 losing now means Brawl looks worse if it loses to Galaxy 2 next week.
Twilight Princess I don't have a problem with (I enjoyed it myself) but Brawl is a perfect example of butchering a successful formula and one of the most overrated games ever.
-- Ya ain't in Mrs. Quitter's School for Resettin' Babies no more. It's time ya graduated, kid.
I hope those suspicious accounts did not prevent KH from winning. (even though I like Persona 3 more)
24. Final Fantasy VI (40)
Whoa, that's quite a leap! I think that makes FFVI the first two-loss game to make the RPI Top 25.
Looks like Galaxy 2 has finally been exposed. I'm still waiting for MGS3 and Brawl to do the same. Brawl has its first real test next week against.... Galaxy 2. Now, Super Metroid hasn't been tested yet either, but.... I have complete faith in it! That game is just too good!

"Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. So...what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think."
Yeah, a lot of the Final Fantasy games have been getting monster schedules. Although it'll flip right back next week once FFX gets a massive SOS boost from beating SMW2, I think I'm actually putting FFIX (6-1) ahead of FFX (6-1) this week in spite of FFIX's one loss being to FFX due to the absolutely insane schedule that FFIX has been managing. Seven weeks in, FFIX has yet to face a single fodder opponent. About the weakest thing on that schedule was Pokémon DPP (2-5 with an absolutely brutal schedule--well, I'm assuming it'll be 2-5, anyway, because this week it actually is facing fodder for once). FFX, on the other hand, hadn't really been challenged when it lost to Melee.
YoboD posted... Damn it guys, why couldn't you anti-vote Mario 64 instead of Galaxy 2?
Mario 64 was facing Contra. Not exactly a vote magnet. Galaxy 2, on the other hand, was facing a beloved classic, Final Fantasy VI, which had been in the top 25 at the start of the year and even after its first loss and was still receiving votes even at 3-2. I'm really not even sure if that was an anti-vote result.

Yeah, it really is a matter of where your initial perceptions were. I had eventually kicked FFVI out of the top 25 because of weak schedule aside from the multiple losses, but I haven't dropped RBY from the #1 spot since it beat FFVI for the same basic reason (FFVI was near the top of my preseason ballot, so I considered it to be a very impressive win. Of course, RBY beat Melee the very next week, so that kind of solidified its position even after Chrono Trigger came along and beat up SMB3.)

Evillordexdeath posted... I actually had more fun playing Melee casually. That's mostly due to better items and a lack of random tripping.
This. Still, I consider the two games to be more or less close to each other in quality. Brawl at least has appeal for having the better cast of playable characters (not only larger, but also no stupid characters like Pichu, less clones, and unique guys like Snake and R.O.B., although I prefer using Samus and Captain Falcon in Melee out of sheer patriotism).

But FFX's best win is better than FFIX's best win!
Yes, that best win is FFIX, but whatever.
Plus, the margin of victory kind of leaves out any room for debate that FFX > FFIX in this contest, so I'm not sure the reasoning for this unless you think FFX would be doing worse with FFIX's schedule or FFIX would be doing better with FFX's schedule (and I don't think anyone's going to argue that FFIX would've beaten Melee)!

"The great GF...Bahamut." "...GF? I...? Using my powers...It is you humans...I fear..."
I'm not sure what to think of Super Metroid right now since it's struggling to double SONIC ADVENTURE. Although maybe I'm just biased against SA1 (heck, I'd consider voting for Other M over Sonic Adventure).
I agree that FFVI > SMG2 wasn't anti-voting Mario. I sort of expected FFVI to win that one, especially in the pre-season as I believe that game is a top 25 game while SMG2 would probably be on the bubble once this is all said and done.

BOP Results: http://charmander6000.webs.com/GotD%20BOP.xls Congratulations to Black Turtle for winning the guru contest.
Heh, so ACII managed to pull it off after all. I'm happy that Diablo II lost, but kind of disappointed because ACII coming up short would've finally opened up a spot on my ballot for TTYD, which was always just about to crack my top 25 when it unexpectedly lost again.
Also, it's getting harder and harder to consider Symphony of the Night to be a "quality win", at least not on the same tier as we originally thought. It looks to be more on the same tier as FFVIII, which is not bad, but not great.

Awesome, but also "what" because it's one of those games that nobody's really played tbqh.
Not really. Its schedule is weak as hell. About the only win it has that could really be considered even remotely surprising is against Valkyria Chronicles, which also has somewhat of a low playrate.

Dude, I'm honestly disappointed in Super Mario 3 for failing to break 70% on Brotherhood and in Super Metroid for only doubling SONIC ADVENTURE for heaven's sake! MGS2 may very well expose it next week, and quite frankly I can't see MGS2 merely doubling Sonic Adventure.
Why should the RE4/R&C match result be reversed, Leonhart? I didn't know you hate RE. For the record, I'm playing through the game for the first time now and enjoying the heck out of it.
I just noticed that for all the flak 3D Sonic gets, we have more 3D Sonic in this contest than 2D Sonic (Sonic CD and Sonic & Knuckles vs. both Sonic Adventures and Sonic Colors), Sonic Adventure 2 currently has a better record than either 2D Sonic, and the one time 2D and 3D Sonic have met in this contest, the latter crapped all over the former. Wowzers.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! The whole "Sonic Adventure breaking 60% on Sonic CD" just left too much of a negative impact on me for whatever reason.
