the original Foundation trilogy, imo.

it was just plain excellent all around. the very very end of the third book is mindblowing as hell and it had my favorite character, Arkady, but I just liked the pacing and plot of the second the most.

Can we count Terminator? Salvation is part of the same series but its just so different from the first three in tone, style, themes, characters, etc.
