the ps1 version, not the lame remake. It had the best story(not overtop like rest, especially 2), best bosses, best voice acting, best cast, best theme song(2 is close), incredible atmosphere, etc. The game was just incredible, and only part 3 came close. Do you guys agree?
I prefer Twin Snakes, but otherwise I agree. The story of MGS1 is better than the rest of the series. It was like watching an awesome 1980s action flick.

I agree that MGS had the best story of the four, but I think the others have merits that make them just as good.

You know that only has 2, 3 and Peace Walker in it, not 1, right?

Best story? Eh, I'll say it ties with 2 and 3! Best bosses? I prefer 3's, but fair enough. Best voice acting? Definitely. Best cast? Yes. Best theme song? No, 2. Soundtrack goes to either 2, 3 or 4, too. Atmosphere? Yes.
Overall, I'd take 2 and 3 over it.

Yeah, this, they say as much right at the end of the game.
"Yes. The inferior one was the winner after all. ...That's right. Until the very end, Liquid thought he was the inferior one."

rocket157 posted... Weakupedia posted... best bosses, sure. MGS2 and 3 had some good bosses, but a lot of them felt thrown in for the sake of having boss fights.
mgs1's bosses were all legit characters
cept maybe the tank guy
I hated facing the M1 tank, especially in Twin Snakes. It was so damn hard!
Besides that, I liked all the boss fights in MGS1.
*blastin' off, yo*
waaat? it wasnt hard.. chaff > grenade > chaff > grenade and its pretty much over

Well, of course it's easy once you a) know what to do and b) know how much you have to conserve consumable items.
As to the original topic... I agree. Mgs1 (not twin snakes) was probably the best overall package of the series, not counting 4 (haven't finished it yet). They all have their strengths and weaknesses, though. Even as frustrated as I got with mgs2's storyline or the various corny segways (the pain, snake talking about guns...) and gameplay gaffes (bandage system, map system) in mgs3, I think I'm ready for a replay of the entire series.
Oh also twin snakes is bad. Gameplay is better, and i guess it's funnier, but it's just worse and loses the original effect. I guess it's technically just *different*...
-- You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.
I know this is nitpicky, but it bothered me a little that in MGS4, in a world where electronics and mechanical soldiers are more common than ever, chaff grenades, which were commonplace even in the 60s, are almost completely gone without explanation. There are like six in the entire game, most of which are hidden.

I prefer Twin Snakes, and then MGS3 was my fav, followed by MGS4 the current champ. And of course MGS2 rocks. They all rock. But yeah, I disagree with the topic statement there.
