Besaid is one of those songs that when I think about, I'm like "oh yeah that's a decent song" and then I hear it and it's like "oh god this is the best thing ever"

You may not have realized, but you just used Besaid Island as a way to justify a good soundtrack. Just making sure you caught that and hopefully you'll be more careful next time.

I love a lot of things about FFX but it kind of fails as a video game, I think every one of the psx games were better from a gameplay perspective with the possible exception of FFIX. still manages to be better than FFVIII though by having much better story and characters. I love the world of spira too, it's just too bad you never get to really explore it. even at the end of the game you don't get a real ability to travel around, your "airship" is just a list of locations. the game has such a great oceanic theme, they really missed an opportunity by not giving you a boat and letting you travel around early on IMO. it's awkward how it just dumps all of the sidequests and optional stuff on you at the very end...all of the various gameplay and structural flaws really frustrate me because of everything in the game I do love, I can't see myself ever replaying it even though some of it is amazing

wandering is probably my favorite

holy **** dat game ruined me for other games, I expect too much because I have been spoiled

it really sucks to think about how little chance I have of feeling that for a game again. The immersion was truly something to behold. Replays these days just make me sad because I know I'll get to the end and there won't be any new content. I don't want the game to change, I just wish it would last forever

I'm almost done with the game atm, it's kinda sad because I do love a lot of it but I also can't see myself ever wanting to replay it, old JRPGs are just difficult to get into and go against everything I consider to be good game design...

Not for me! It's a lot easier to put on those old shoes than it is for me to get into a bunch of shooter-infused crap I don't really care for.

yeah the current tidal wave of generic FPS' isn't such a great thing either, but I think random battling has to be one of the worst gaming things ever. can you get a no encounter equip early on? I have a no enc baroque sword now but I just got it after I got the airship -_- even then, bosses become a massive pain in the ass if you just avoid battles too...

Ah yeah, I don't recall there being a way to get Encounter None early on. I'll have to look into it...

monster arena and sidequests are a lot of fun, why did they decide to put all of the good video game stuff at the very end -_- you can't do anything that cool with the sphere grid until the game is basically already over...
