if you just delete your birthday from facebook temporarily, that should cut down on most of them since most people just look at the thing on the right side of the home page that tells you everyone's birthdays and wouldn't even know about the birthday otherwise. Plus then you get to see who actually remembers it's your birthday!

well it also forces the people who actually know me well enough to know my birthday to actually communicate with me. not in a "no-one-wants-to-talk-to-me" way, but in a "new-technology-has-made-communication-way-less-personal" way. i get a lot more phone calls this way, which i enjoy.
and thanks for the b-day wishes, heh.

I know what you mean, I don't give happy birthday messages on facebook for that reason. Depending on the person, maybe just a text, though.

Yeah I try to get a bit more personal with the people I actually care about. Most of my real friends don't even get a wall post because I'll be with them on the actual day.
But I definitely enjoy seeing who posts on my wall for my birthday. So many people that I don't even speak to during the entire year.
just change your birthday for a week or so and then put it back. That's what I do... and what I do I mean what I just got the idea to do just now because of this topic since my birthday is in January and I've only had a facebook account since... after last January >_>
