In an effort to fill up the topic more quickly, here's something less than half of us care about: 12 Large Summit Point Standings!

featuring SPOILERS from this weekend's shows.

BLOCK A
T1.) Mike Quackenbush: 4 Points
(2 matches remaining: vs. Del Rey, vs. Icarus)

T1.) Sara Del Rey: 4 Points
(3 matches remaining: vs. Quackenbush, vs. Hallowicked, vs. Ophidian)

T3.) Claudio Castagnoli: 2 Points
(2 matches remaining: vs. Icarus, vs. Ophidian)

T3.) Hallowicked: 2 Points
(3 matches remaining: vs. Del Rey, vs. Ophidian, vs. Icarus)

T3.) Icarus: 2 Points
(3 matches remaining: vs. Castagnoli, vs. Hallowicked, vs. Quackenbush)

6.) Ophidian: 0 Points
(3 matches remaining: vs. Castagnoli, vs. Hallowicked, vs. Del Rey)

It's 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw. Points leader goes on to the finals to face the winner of Block B. I assume head-to-head is the tiebreaker.

While I compile Block B, any predictions? Ophidian is dangerously close to being mathematically eliminated, and if Quack beats Del Rey he will be.

**MORE CHIKARA SPOILERS**

Block B is easy to analyze.

Kingston is far and away the frontrunner, and with one more win he will lock it up. He has the head-to-head tiebreaker over UMB already, so all he has to do is defeat the winner of Vin Gerard vs. Fire Ant (which is set to happen before either of them face Kingston) to win this Block. His other match will be nearly mathematically irrelevant, regardless of which order they happen in.

Jigsaw is already mathematically eliminated with his 2 losses this weekend, barring some really weird 3-way-tie at the top where they go to some obscure 2nd tiebreaker beyond H2H. I really don't think they'd book themselves into such a situation, so forget it Jiggy!

Same for Lee, even if he did manage to miraculously return before his next scheduled match.

UMB will get his free points from Lee, but even beyond that he has to win out to have any hope of reaching the Finals. With Jigsaw still nursing a bad arm and with Gerard distracted by the bounty on Kingston, he might just do it!

For Fire Ant, the path is similar. He must win out against Kingston and Gerard to have a chance.

Vin Gerard is in a unique position, being that he has the most matches remaining out of everyone in the entire tournament. That's the good news. The bad news is that none of his forthcoming points will be coming easily. He's gonna have to pull a string of upsets (especially against the now pissed off Eddie Kingston) to come out on top of Block B.

Jakyl Prediction: Eddie Kingston holds onto his lead and cruises to the finals, with an exclamation point decimation of Gerard as his Block B finale.

Block A analysis incoming!

**CHIKARA SPOILERS: KING OF SEQUEL**

BLOCK B
1.) Eddie Kingston: 6 Points
(2 matches remaining: vs. Gerard, vs. Fire Ant)

T2.) UltraMantis Black: 2 Points
(3 matches remaining: vs. Lee, vs. Gerard, vs. Jigsaw)

T2.) Vin Gerard: 2 Points
(4 matches remaining: vs. UMB, vs. Kingston, vs. Jigsaw, vs. Fire Ant)

T2.) Fire Ant: 2 Points
(3 matches remaining: vs. Kingston, vs. Gerard, vs. Lee)

T5.) Jigsaw: 0 Points
(3 matches remaining: vs. Gerard, vs. UMB, vs. Lee)

T5.) Brodie Lee: 0 Points
(3 matches remaining: vs. Jigsaw, vs. UMB, vs. Fire Ant)

The thing to consider here is that Lee is, as of now, not going to return for any of the rest of his tournament matches. Whenever they come up, if he is still injured, his opponent gets the 2 points. That's something to consider when formulating Jigsaw, UMB, and Fire Ant's potential point totals--they essentially all have 2 free points coming their way eventually.

Analysis forthcoming!

***YET AGAIN CHIKARA IS SPOILED ROTTEN***

Block A is seemingly destined for a Quack vs. Death Rey showdown for all the marbles, but is it really going to end that way?

The BDK will not take Sara's insubordination lightly. I can very easily imagine them injuring her before a match or otherwise interfering in some fashion to make sure she does not succeed.

With the rumors swirling about Claudio going to WWE, he may not even get a chance to finish out his final two 12 Large matches! I hope he does though, as Castagnoli vs. Icarus is a fascinating battle of 2 of CHIKARA's most reviled rudos. He's definitely behind the 8 ball when it comes to winning, though, with losses already to both Quack and Sara. He would need a draw in that match to remain viable in this tournament.

Ophidian had to forfeit his match against Icarus this weekend due to injury, but expects to return before the tournament ends. Regardless, he has next-to-zero shot of coming out on top. Not entirely eliminated yet, but almost!

Hallowicked and Icarus are both still in manageable positions. The match between the two of them will be of utmost importance, since the loser will be all but done in this tournament. Whoever wins that match, though, may still very well control his own destiny, depending on the outcome of Quackenbush vs. Del Rey. Don't count these two out yet!

Jakyl Prediction: Quackenbush escapes from the Block for a showdown with Eddie Kingston, with the first ever CHIKARA main event singles title on the line. I predict that Eddie Kingston will be the first man to hold this new prestigious title that is still as-of-yet unnamed!

The problem is that it's not really a "tournament" per se. If would be one thing if it was a true Round Robin, but the way they're doing it, I'll bet you anything that by the end of the run someone will have had at least 5 more matches in it than someone else, Matt Morgan's injury excluded.

It's a good idea in theory, it just needs STRUCTURE.

not to mention there are guys competing in fatal fourways and stuff which is a major disadvantage when other guys are having 1 on 1 matches. not only because it's harder to beat 3 guys than 1 but also because those matches produce 3 losers instead of 1.

also this is nitpicky but is there a particular reason people are getting 7 points per win

that just seems unnecessary

and how exactly did crimson end up with 31 points

3 pinfall victories, 1 submission victory.

The various win types are worth different points in the same vein that a Touchdown is worth more than Field Goal. Yet somehow I doubt the game theory behind the BFG Series point methods has been quite as tested.

no because then you won't get the winner's purse!

if you're defending a title it makes sense, but then it could lead to you getting stripped of the title

in this scenario all your doing is minimizing the amount of points your opponent will get for beating you

it's a sound strategy!

The final BFG Series match is a Fatal Four-Way between the Top Four guys, winner of that match wins.

So in the end, you can run away with everything and be the leader by 100 points going into the finals and still lose out on the title shot because Gunner rolled up James Storm behind your back or something.

Something I've found really interesting is the balance between BFG series "points" and actual appearances on Impact. Like, I haven't been keeping track or anything, but it seems to me that Crimson has barely been on Impact at all, and that all of his points are coming from house shows. Which I guess is to be expected if you want to have an "undefeated" gimmick while still maintaining an appearance of parity.

oh, well at least this means crimson won't be in the title match

it's pretty obvious that he'll just wreck the entire series and win by a ton of points and then just lose the final match without being involved in the fall. that's russo 101. the "crimson got screwed" storyline writes itself!

whether or not it's good booking to put a guy over your entire roster and then have him face eric bischoff at BFG because he screwed him is irrelevant
