The only really terrible part was what they did to Deadpool.

I bet this movie will be better.

I believe a lot of that one got combined into the First Class script.

I have no idea what's going on with Nightcrawler in the comics but the movies are a separate universe or whatever, so why not?

Also, I doubt whoever owns the X-men movie rights cares about what Marvel wants anyway, or they would sell them the rights back.

Name five that have stuck and that happened more than five years ago, and you can't name anything too obscure (obviously there's some subjectivity here). It's one thing when Superman and Phoenix come back to life, but freaking Bucky and Jason Todd got resurrected.

Ted Kord (Blue Beetle) -Heard of him, I think I saw a Batman: B&B episode with him in it
Ralph (Elongated Man) and Sue Dibney- Heard of them, only experienced them as background characters in JLU
Jonah Hex- But... they just made a movie of him, it can't have been more than two years ago
Mongal- Ok, I'll give you this one
The Question- and this one
Rocket Red- Never heard of him
Terra- Only saw her in Teen Titans
****ING PHOENIX- Who hasn't heard of her? But she kind of had to die.

Someone can argue with me on this, but in my experience of meeting even geeky human beings, comics are too expensive to legitimately keep up with. There are plenty of people who call themselves fans of Marvel or DC comics who have never picked up an actual comic book. Most people like the franchises because of movies, cartoons, or video games, at most they'll pick up a graphic novel or paperback collection once in a while. For example, I'd consider myself a Batman fan and I thought Clayface was a good villain. But then you explained that he's god awful and boring in the comics. I honestly would have never known because frankly I can't keep up with them using legitimate means and I don't have access to easy illegitimate means. Again, this is completely my experience, I mean I'm sure the comics still sell because, well, they're still making them, but I can't imagine that the average "fan" of DC even knows who Blue Beetle is, regardless of how awesome you claim his comics are.

Ted Kord BB maybe, but Blue Beetle Jaime Reyes has been showing up a lot lately and may even get his own liver action series next year.

And DC is attempting to help get people afraid of the commitment to the cost get in starting September, by relaunching their entire line and making it more accessible, and going day-and-date digital at $1.99.

But they still have 60+ different franchises they're launching. That's still $120/month if you want to keep up with it. How is that accessible?

Your friend made that up. He's got a manifestation of her in his head which is more a sign of his mental troubles.

And with the exception of Mongal those have all been very important characters.

OK maybe not Rocket Red.

But just look at that guy!

So it's a half-reboot?

52.

$100 isn't a lot of money to spend monthly on a hobby unless you're still in the lower levels of school. Besides, not every single title will be worth following. You buy the books that are good, and avoid crap like Tony Daniel's Batman.

TBQH I don't understand who the target audience of Marvel and DC comics are. I mean obviously they target the nerdy kids demographic, but then they make their comics cost far too much to keep up with. By the time you have a good enough job to be able to afford the $150/month commitment, you probably don't have the actual time to keep up with reading it all. And no, the people who pirate everything are not their target audience.
