Ties have been broken, divisions have been set and we are ready to go. Starting Thursday, the Movie of the Year tournament begins. I'm following the exact rules and structure of this year's User of the Year. I will try to have each topic up at the same time which will be 9PM EST and 6pm PST. I do need help tallying, double checking and putting up topics if I'm not around. I do have a few guys interested but it's always nice to have backup.

From: The Real Truth | #004 I hate the name of this topic. It's really misleading. I think I even nominated The Matrix in the nomination topic and I was still confused.
Yeah, this makes me think of movies only from 2011. =/
Knew i should have nominated, but still, shocked to not see it in there

I'm a bit surprised Big Fish did so bad. I'm sure a lot of people saw it and weren't just giving it negatives because they hadn't seen it. I mean Chinatown hardly got any negatives and it was probably the least seen out of all the movies.
-- Menji+ What Will Never Be the Greatest. http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/8184/ffxiii.gif
That's because people have seen it and liked it but don't like it as much as the movies they gave positive votes too.
Bicycle Thieves got more votes because people haven't seen it, not because they've seen it and disliked it. If we were only giving out positive votes than Chinatown would have had more votes than Bicycle Thieves.
EDIT: And the proof is in the numbers, Chinatown had 4 positive votes and BT had 3.
BT's high vote total was a result of people picking the movie they haven't seen because they needed a negative.

Up was quite dominant which I expect from all the Pixar entrants. Adaptation loses the tiebreaker due to the lowest Positive Percentage, Tokyo Story comes in 9th most likely do to hardly anyone having seen it and American Pie is blown out...

Pulp Fiction and Memento dominated as expected. To my surprise, Butch Cassidy came in third over some favorites in Ghostbusters and In Bruges. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly barely hung and will advance over classic Singin' in the Rain. And Austin Powers and Umasou were blown out.

The Matrix and Gladiator dominate the division as the two most nominated movies. No surprises there. Alien managed to finish third with a high positive percentage. The next spots were all very close and changed throughout the day and to my surprise Grave of the Fireflies fails to advance. Armageddon sets the record for lowest score so far. Will anything do worse?

Oldboy too low. And GotF did poorly probably because not many have bothered watching it despite it's praise. Probably has something to do with it not being Miyazaki.
