Not everyone can go online. I preferred to play Lan with my friend. Blizzard's servers will likely receive updates however often when all I'd want to do is play the game. It's not just the online thing. It's all of the recent information we've received that isn't surprising at all after what happened with Starcraft 2. It's just too much of a hassle and I'd rather just play Guild Wars 2, which looks way better. I might not even play that with Dota 2 coming out next year.

There's still the whole bit where we don't know if we'll just have to be connected to the internet to play single player, or we'll have to connect to one of their servers to play.

I still think it's so weird that so many people are raging about no offline play. I didn't know so many people played D2 single-player. I mean, the entire point of the game was group play. I know they're all socially inept, but even they should be able to enjoy some anonymous online group play...

And it's not like internet is too expensive or inaccessible nowadays... back in 2001 I remember playing D2 on free Juno dial-up that had the big banner that you couldn't get rid of, so when you played the game you had to avoid clicking that large portion of the screen otherwise a popup would come up and minimize the game and you would die. Sure, I could've just played the game single-player, but why the **** would I play Diablo single-player?

Also these new mana systems are dumb... does every class really need their own thing? Does the Demon Hunter really need TWO mana bars? Rage is fine for the Barb, but everyone else should've just had regular ol' mana.

I've probably played D2 an equal amount of offline and online. Usually when I wanted to test a build I would try it offline before bringing it online. Literally cuts my playtime in half! Plus all the various mods of the game were fun to play

Persistent online DRM isn't a huge deal. If you can't get at least DSL in this day and age then there's a bigger problem than D3's online DRM.

And who plays Diablo singleplayer? Offline at that?

And from what I hear you can re-spec infinitely, so no need to make 527846592846 characters.

The skill system is very good according to people who have played the game, and the RMAH is basically what has already existed for Diablo II nearly the entire duration of the game's existence.

#1 issue there is not enough enemies on the screen. Even in normal D2 you'd have anywhere between 20-50 enemies running around, sometimes more.

gist of what I've heard is this does not end uP being a problem.

D2's economy didn't involve Blizzard officially sanctioning the act, taking a cut of every sale, and potentially even selling items/characters directly to the playerbase.
