If at any point before the first voice acted trailer for this game you would have told me I would not by hype for a Star Fox 64 remake, I would have... probably assumed the remake replaced the original voice actors, actually.

All, like, four of the voice actors from the original still do voice work.

But they didn't hire any of them. If they hired even one, that'd be like a quarter of the game's characters with their original voice.

According to Nintendo Power they reassembled the original voice cast to re-record it. It's possible it's not 100% the same cast, but from the voice-acted trailers I've seen the important characters seem the same.

It's worth noting that Nintendo Power's review actually considered this a negative, calling the voice acting "grating" in both this version and the N64 original, and wishing for completely new voices. So clearly they don't really know what they're talking about.

If this is the original voice cast, they were directed terribly. General Pepper sounds pretty much perfect, Falco's fine, and Slippy's voice is easier on the ears now, but Fox's first line spoken sounds so... I don't know, the words "eager young space cadet" come to mind as descriptors for Fox here.

Well Fox's Star Fox 64 voice direction was basically "do your best Luke Skywalker impression" so that sounds like a good description for it!

BTW, IMDB lists the following voice actors returning from the N64 version:

Mike West: Fox McCloud/James McCloud
Issac Marshall: Peppy Hare
Lyssa Browne: Slippy Toad/Katt Monroe
Rick May: General Pepper/Wolf O'Donnell/Leon Powalksi/Andross/Narrator
David Frederick White: ROB 64/Pigma Dengar

Falco's got a different voice actor (Bill Johns in 64, Mark Lund in 3D), who is also credited for the 64 voices of Andrew, Bill, and some character called "Caiman" who I don't remember at all. No 3D credits for those characters. Also three more "Additional Voices" actors (Jock Blaney, J. Green, and James Cissell) listed for 64 but not 3D.

so far just watched the intro and played a bit of battle mode


intro's 3D already surpasses that of Ocarina of Time 3D

the one part near the end where it shows the back of the Arwing as it's starting up. Because of the angle the wing literally is sticking out of the screen

Battle Mode you can do 1P vs 3 CPUs and I had my ass handed to me in that a few times before I managed to win once.

They should have remade Star Fox 2 along with this game imo
