Quest stuff you might want to pull: - boris/jarlsberg/sneaky pete key lime pies, 4 digital key lime pies, 3 star key lime pies - So you can avoid doing the Daily Dungeon, 8-bit realm, and Hole in the Sky completely. (You don't even have to open the Hole in the Sky. Just turn the castle wheel once and you're done with that quest.) - 3 asbestos/chrome/linoleum ore - 6 goat cheese - This is a lot of pulls, so if you're running out of space, you may want to farm it instead. But if you have extra pulls, might as well. - drum machine - Sometimes this drops naturally while I'm looking for the stone rose. But if I find the stone rose before getting a drum machine, then I pull it. - stunt nuts, ketchup hound - Usually these drop naturally while I'm collecting the other palindome items, but if not, then I pull them. - large boxes - So you can avoid the Dungeons of Doom. I stock 5 of these just in case, though 3 is usually enough. - star chart (for making Richard's star key), star hat, star crossbow - wand of nagamar
Other stuff: - unbearable light - Really useful for getting outfits. If you have clip art, you can make them in-run. Otherwise you can pull them. I typically use unbearable lights for three outfits: 1. hippy outfit - To get hippy stand access so I can get fruits to mix my own drinks. 2. mining outfit - To open the Goatlet. Ignore this if you're pulling 6 goat cheese. 3. frat warrior fatigues (Note: You can't use an unbearable light to get the swashbuckling getup, because no single pirate drops the whole thing. I notice you pulled the outfit, which is a good move.)

I need to maximize my pulls, but not until I can find a place to shave turns out of my run. I screwed up with the GMoB because the combat script i was running in mafia didn't have him as a separate encounter, so that cost me around 25 turns. I also forgot to pull my wet stew, so i had to spend around 65 adventures waiting to get out of ronin, but I tried to use them to level up my character.

So, as someone who hasn't done a challenge run before, is there any particular bonus to doing a challenge path in-season? Or can I potentially wait until the next seasonal challenge path has come out to do a Boris and miss out on nothing?

Speaking of leveling, another thing I notice is that you don't pull any +stat/+ML gear. That can help a lot, particularly in early levels. Ideally, you'll progress naturally doing quests so that you won't need to spend any adventures leveling until level 8 or 9. I used to have trouble with "dead space" at level 5 (where I had already done all my quests and spent a bunch of time mucking around to reach level 6); running more +ML helped a lot.
Cheap stuff: - astral shirt (+3 stats/fight) - c.a.r.n.i.v.o.r.e. button (+15 ML) (req: 10 myst) - crimbo offhands (+2 mainstat/fight): handmade hobby horse (mus), ball-in-a-cup (myst), set of jacks (mox) - for moxie classes: ocarina of space (+2 stats/fight) (req: 45 mox), spangly sombrero (+3 mox/fight) (req: 60 mox) - detuned radio, mind-control device, or annoy-o-tron
(I like to use the astral belt (+20 ML) + cane-mail shirt (+20 ML) combo for more "serious" runs, but running that much ML is kind of a pain. Astral shirt + carnivore is almost as good and a lot easier to deal with.)
Expensive stuff: - operation patriot shield (+3 stats/fight) - (I don't have these, but you might) juju mojo mask, loathing legion necktie

i usually get the astral shirt, but this ascension I wanted to try something else because I was a myst, didn't need the prismatic damage. I also take the hot dogs so I can get a leg up on leveling. I might pull the button and just get an astral shirt no matter the run.

My last Boris run (softcore) was kind of disappointing. It started out great, since I managed to get day 1 stomach for the first time. But I screwed up the rest of the run and ended up with higher turncount than my previous softcore Boris ascension (which had five fewer Boris points).

Man, I do NOT remember mysticality class runs being anywhere near this hard/expensive compared to moxie/muscle class runs. Granted, last time I ascended as a mysticality class was in '06, but I don't remember it being even remotely necessary to buy this many MP restoratives, even on my faster NS11 runs. I don't remember even feeling like I had to use the more expensive attack spells. If I hadn't crafted a Chefstaff, each fight would probably be taking me like 50 MP.
Hm.... ascend today or spend 2 days farming and wait for mysticality day for my first day and so I can guarantee being able to fully utilize Feast of Boris?

Well, we've got a muscle/Avatar of Boris-oriented Mr. Store item; it's a free pull from Hagnk's during Avatar of Boris runs.
For me it's tempting to grab since Avatar of Boris seems fun, but I have little interest in doing it until I've got a fair amount more regular runs under my belt and no longer have any particular skills I want to perm. I do like the +15 ML you can turn on/off on it. I'll see whether I want to pick it up later; I mean I already have the Jewel-Eyed Wizard Hat for a Mr. Store hat, though this certainly is preferable in most circumstances since it also regens mana each adventure and the Hat's mostly good for buff casting, especially since it only has 10 power.
Oh, and the Spectral Pickle Factory is back since it's April 1st!

Ahhhh. Good to know. Man, right as I got into planning my ascensions again. >_< Oh well. If I hurry I can catch the Feast of Boris on the tail end and, if I'm lucky, catch Oytser day on the tail end of my next run.
Would jumping into Hardcore AoB, and using a Mr. Accessory on the new hat for my first ascension be a terrible mistake? Didn't really have any plans for the Mr. A (bought it two days ago. Mainly just wanted to donate), and the 300 karma is pretty tempting. Any items that would benefit a HC AoB run more that I could buy by selling the Mr. A instead?

Not at all, at least in terms of other things you could buy that would help more. The hat is damn good, and out of the very few things that could actually aid you in HC AoB, you have Pumpkin/Peppermint, VIP lounge amenities, and the Pen Pal kit, none of which are affordable with only the meat a single Mr. A gets you.

The 660,000 meat I got from selling Mime Soul Fragments means the short term money from selling the Mr.A wouldn't make much of a difference, anyway. Don't know what they do, but I'll let the people with a lot of meat figure it out.
Managed to kill the Naughty Sorceress with 4 adventures left to go. Might have taken me an extra two days if I hadn't sold those souls, considering the wild uncontrolled spending I did to push through the castle. Boris time is now.
Hoping I manage two ascensions before it goes out of season. Three would be nice, but I'm not optimistic.
F*** yeah Feast of Boris. Finished up my last run, including Nemesis quest and hitting 14 for the skill I wanted, then managed to hit level 9 on my new run's first day. At 5 days, my fastest SCNP since NS11. Hopefully I'll be able to manage a 4-dayer off this one.

Yeah, that kinda screwed me. I wish I had known so I didn't screw myself out of Boris Key Lime Pie by eating a fortune cookie that I could have just saved until tomorrow =(.
At level 6 (halfway to 7) after two days in my first HC Boris run, with 2/3 of the copse cleared. Was struggling a lot, and getting beaten up early (mostly due to screwing up with monster leveling). Getting Heroic Belch made things a lot easier, letting me kill everything in one hit safely at ML+25. Almost decided to break off into the shouting path instead, would have been a huge mistake. Had to burn an astral energy drink on the first day, unfortunately, probably going to go for Hot Dogs next run.
