Actually you could argue Yoda didn't even lose, he forfeited. Which I guess is still a loss, but whatever.

I always felt this way, too. Mainly because Yoda doing his little badass stare and the Emperor look like he's about to s*** himself. Unfortunately, the time it would have taken for him to get back up and continue the conflict, I would assume the Emperor's Royal Guard and more Clonetroopers would show up, making the fight that much more unwinnable. Yoda could have won, but he had an unfortunate setback during the battle.

Yep. And the novelization has Yoda realizing that if he dies there, no one will be left to carry on the legacy of the Jedi, since he had no idea if Obi-Wan had survived going after Vader or not.

The novelization of RotS is way better than the film.

In the films, the lightsaber > Force. You can tank everything the force throws at you, but if you get hit by the lightsaber you're done. That's why I rank Windu so high. But if we're talking about EU stuff, the Force gets pretty ridiculous.

I remember the RotS novelization having Anakin say stuff while mowing down the Separatists. At first I thought it was unfortunate they weren't in the film. Upon reflection, though, I think with the juxtaposition between the Emperor's speech and Anakin would have been undermined a bit. Not to mention it would have made it sound like Anakin was enjoying his actions, which is shown later that he's pretty torn on the whole thing.

Keep in mind Windu took down a Sith Lord that just got done slaughtering 3 of the most powerful Jedi in about 4 seconds.

You damn well better respect Mace motherf***ing Windu's lightsaber skills.

I've grown up to, but I still enjoy the Power Rangers.

I can't picture myself taking something I enjoyed and then taking a complete 180 on it.

Power Rangers is awesome.

The whole PT thing is different, that's just a kid being delusional about flashy effects and lightsaber battles, then growing up to have more standards and realize that it's actually crap. It's not even nostalgic at all, because the original trilogy carries all my nostalgia for the series, as I saw those movies and fell in love instantly. And Star Wars is my life, so I continuously have more exposure to it, which means I've had plenty of chances to realize just how bad the PT really is. Revenge of the Sith actually took a while for me to realize the terribleness, because I thought the lightsaber duels were so great, then the more I watched, I began to realize that even those suck compared to Luck vs Vader in both ESB and RotJ.

No, the lightsaber was made to look overpowered in the movies, but it's really just a weapon. The Force is so much more powerful, as Yoda has stated. Yoda and Sidious could defeat even Mace Windu's lightsaber skills, as Mace shouldn't even get the chance to hit them.

Yeah, that part was a little iffy, but overall I prefer the novel. Especially the bit where Obi-Wan and Yoda disguise themselves as a parent and child, with Obi-Wan carrying Yoda in his arms, to break into the Temple after Operation Knightfall. Clone troopers come over to check things out, one of them says Yoda's the ugliest baby he's ever seen, Yoda says something like, "Insulted, I am" and pops his lightsaber under the dude's chin.

Doesn't make any sense in the context of sneaking in, but the image is just amazing.

I don't feel like I'm delusional about flashy effects and lightsaber battles, though. I do think the films have their weaknesses. I think they have strengths, too. I think they're flawed, and but I think there's some enjoyable elements, too. And I think it's fair to say that people can form different opinions based on the film without having to be an idiot to enjoy the movie.

Honestly, I still don't care that much for RotJ's lightsaber battle. I personally think that the best two fights are RotS Vader vs. Obi-Wan and ESB Luke vs. Vader, each taking wholly different approaches that create two very different but very enjoyable fights.

But hey, that's just me. And at least I don't want George Lucas killed just because I don't agree with his every decision.

I read the novel a while ago, and it was pretty good, definitely better than the movie, because at least you can imagine some real chemistry between Anakin and Padme instead of the stiff tension we have to deal with in the movie.

You're just repeating what I said -_-

I know the Force is broken, hell just look at KotOR 2 and how a seemingly weak senior citizen could instantly kill the most powerful remaining Jedi in a split second. But we're talking about the movies, Yoda and Palpatine were nowhere near the peak of their Force powers.

You don't get it. I don't want him killed because he makes terrible decisions, I don't even necessarily want him killed, I just want him to be relinquished of the rights to Star Wars, because he's CONSTANTLY ruining stuff. You don't understand just how important Star Wars is to me, it is my life, I am nothing without it. Lucas is taking his OWN CREATION and f***ing it all up with his crap, and he thinks he's doing amazing things. He's delusional, he's an idiot, he DOESN'T CARE AT ALL about his fans or what he's doing. He's bad for Star Wars, and the longer he's allowed freedom, the more changes he's going to make to our beloved memories and original movies.

Don't get me wrong, he used to be a hero, and I'm glad he existed in the first place, because if he didn't, then I would have no meaning in my life. But he's better as a representative or an influence, not the ruling hand of the Star Wars universe. The originals weren't directed by him and they were amazing, then he got full control, and he directed the prequels, and that's why we got what we got. I actually like the overall story of those movies, but they're just carried out so horribly that it's unforgivable.

This is incredibly creepy, Halo. If Star Wars is the only reason you live, you don't need Lucas to relinquish the rights of Star Wars to someone, you need psychiatric help.

The one thing Lucas has done that really angers me is that he refuses to allow games to be made based on the stuff that takes place after RotJ. At least the rumor is that he refuses it.

I would kill for a New Jedi Order game. Like maybe a Force Unleashed style hack 'n slash that goes throughout the whole storyline and lets you play as multiple characters, culminating in Luke's ridiculous fight against Shimmra. Or a Battlefront game during the time period. Being able to play as the Vong would rock.

The fact that you define any significant part of your life around a work of fiction is definitely not a healthy thing. I may love the hell out of Assassin's Creed, but I'll be damned if I'm going to feel anything significant if it was removed from my life.

Well Assassin's Creed isn't that great.

Star Wars is a masterpiece.

There's a difference.

Also, I don't care much for reality, even though my life now is better than it's ever been, I still prefer to live in fiction, it's much less harsh than real life.

That's what's called an "opinion," Halo. Personally, I think Assassin's Creed 2 is one of the greatest games of all time, and I'd rather play that then watch any Star Wars movie. So I have a great affection for the AC series. Just as you have a great affection for Star Wars.

And yet, if someone "ruined" it, I think I'd be able to recover with minimal difficulty.

Well the Old Republic is only a few thousand years after the KotOR era, it's set a long time BEFORE the prequels, so I don't think that counts in his "no games that take place in the New Jedi Order era."

The New Jedi Order starts with Vector Prime and is around nineteen books or so. It's excellent and worth reading.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/The_New_Jedi_Order

List of books is further down.

If you wanted to get a base in the EU before reading it, there's some basic necessities for backstory.

The Thrawn Trilogy.
The X-Wing series.
I, Jedi.
The Hand of Thrawn Duology.

I'm a big EU fan, though, so I've read pretty much all of it, both the good and the bad.

I highly, highly doubt AC means as much to you as Star Wars means to me.

AC does mean a lot to me, but that's within comparison to video games. Video games, as with most types of media, cannot affect me greatly enough for it to mean the world to me.

You didn't grow up with AC

I didn't grow up with a lot of things, I fail to see the relevancy.

the game wasn't the biggest bonding point with your father,

My dad and I bonded over the summer over Red Dead Redemption.

you don't have to suffer through AC getting ruined by its creator, instead it's just getting better (according to fans anyway, I don't see it but whatever).

Actually, I felt Brotherhood was a step backwards. Not a huge one, mind you, but I felt AC2 was still the better game. And if it continues down a path of ruination, I'm pretty sure I'll be "oh well" and move on. Because it's a just a video game at the end of the day.

While I haven't read many EU books, or any actually, I still have a decent amount of knowledge about it from reading stuff online, on the Star Wars wiki, from what other people have said, etc. So hopefully that's a basic enough backstory for me to get into the New Jedi Order. I think that's part of the reason why I enjoyed The Force Unleashed, because when Starkiller pulled a Star Destroyer out of the sky, he uh, pulled one out of the sky. And I saw it. and it was glorious. I do understand that people with more creative minds can actually visualize a description better than I can, so when they read something, they can actually see the described action in their head. I'm not the best at that.

Oh yeah, I know what you mean. I just particularly enjoy picturing a 60 year old Mark Hamill godstomping everyone, it's hilarious.

Oh, Halo, there's a graphic novel version of the Thrawn Trilogy.

It's a pretty good adaptation. This was the start of the EU right here, so there's no backstory needed other than the movies. Luke meets his wife for the first time, and I'm thinking you'd probably love her character. Han and Leia's kids are born, it's pretty important stuff.

Yeah, that part inevitably creeps in.

Now imagine the Joker with Force powers! Awesome.

Rock, you still aren't getting it. I don't know how much more I can explain it to you, maybe you can just learn to accept that other people get more attached to things than you do.

No, I get it. I think it's unhealthy but I most certainly get it.

I already know about it all though. I know about his wife, and the Solo kids, and how Jacen turns to the Dark Side, and I'm pretty sure he gets killed by Jaina or Jaina kills him or they kill each other or something tragic happens, and Anakin Solo dies at some point too and Han and Leia are very unfortunate.

But holy crap I was unaware of a comic book adaption for the Thrawn Trilogy, gettingggggggg.

It isn't unhealthy so long as you can balance it, which I can. I have enough knowledge of psychology to understand myself.

You claim that, yet in another topic you claim you want the creator of Star Wars dead.

Do you not see the problem here? Even in a hyperbolic sense, it's not a good thing.

Jacen turns way, way later. In the series after the NJO, which was godawful.

But yeah, Han and Leia have terrible luck. I assume you know the big death that happens in the first book of the NJO? The author actually got death threats for it.
