-Matches will last exactly 24 hours. Votes after that much time has elapsed will not be counted, even if a new topic hasn't gone up yet. -This is a contest to determine which character is the most *powerful*. Vote only for the character you think would win in a fight, not the one who's funnier, cooler, or sexier. If you don't do that I can't count your vote. -BOLD YOUR VOTE. Unbolded votes will NOT be counted. -Rallying is allowed. Alts are not. -Fights will take place in a neutral terrain. This does not necessarily mean a *featureless* terrain: assume that both characters will have a chance to use all of their skills to the fullest here, barring setting-specific abilities and anything that requires the presence of multiple enemies (but see below). -Characters start the fight alone. They don't bring allies with them, like Kerrigan and the Zerg Swarm for instance. Summons are allowed though, provided they're brought once combat has started. -Fighters retain their usual personalities. They won't fight to kill unless that's their MO, and won't spam their best attacks to win unless, again, that's how they act in their original media. -You don't have to justify your vote, but it helps. If you feel like you can add something to the debate, go right ahead! -Seriously, BOLD THE VOTE. So important it bears repeating.
(1) Mewtwo
From the Pokemon anime, Mewtwo is a psychic Pokemon. Widely regarded as one of the most powerful Pokemon in existence, Mewtwo possesses telepathic and telekinetic abilities, including summoning a barrier to protect himself; teleporting; an energy attack called Shadow Ball, which is powerful enough to destroy a building; and Hyper Beam, which fires a large beam from his mouth. Mewtwo was also able to Disable almost fifty Pokemon at once, preventing them from using any attacks.
Mewtwo has also used his powers to create large-scale illusions of hurricanes, wipe the memories of large groups of people, and unleash large amounts of destruction; he destroys the Team Rocket headquarters at one point. He also teleported an entire island, lake, and spring into a small cave.
(8) It http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSs_mx60RETh0fI1cIkKP2GqRmhftGgMJPi97oKKZqPi6ycvN6X7RAh0eeH It is the primary antagonist of the Stephen King novel of the same name. It is a being from between dimensions that sent a physical manifestation of itself to Earth in the distant past, where it sleeps and periodically wakes to feed on human flesh and emotion. It is a shapeshifter, whose primary ability is to assume the form of whatever its victim fears the most, gaining both the strengths and weaknesses of the shape it has taken. While shifted, It is particularly vulnerable to its target overcoming their fear of It, as even a weak attack in this manner can drive It into temporary retreat.
The human mind cannot perceive It's true form, instead seeing only a gigantic spider, which is capable of devouring a man's arm in one bite. It also possesses the ability to form a mental connection to a target, dragging the victim's mind through empty space and eventually into It's true form beyond the boundaries of the universe, what It calls the Deadlights, the experience of which will consume the mind of whoever witnesses it; The victim can attempt through willpower and imagination to resist the effect, however. Being defeated in this test of wills causes severe, near-"fatal" harm to It.

This eludes me. I'm not entirely sure, since I'm not a Pokémon expert. Any pokéfans care to chime in and make a wild guess?
EDIT: Never mind, I got beaten magnificently. You win this round FFD.

It wasn't really asthma medicine. It was the little kid believing the asthma medicine was some kind of horrible acid, and It dying to Belief Magic as it turned literal

he was an adult when he died, every kid lived except 2 of those bully dicks. Also there's a pretty thin line between Bully and Serial Killer, and they crossed it pretty easily <_<
Speaking of which, why was It a giant spider again <_<?

I'm actually leaning towards It, just because I don't know if Mewtwo could pull off the whole 'We have no fears anymore, so you have no power' thing the kids did to beat It. As long as It has something you're scared of, he keeps coming. That's kind of his gimmick
--
We are thought, and reality, and concept, and the unimaginable
Indeed, I feel tempted to side by It too. I wonder what Mewtwo's prime fear would be...maybe a human who has enslaved several mighty pokémon and who's skilled enough to defeat him in a battle? Or a sapient, malicious Master Ball like FFD jokingly suggested?

Way I'm seeing the fight going in my head, Mewtwo opens up with one of his attacks. Attack does nothing. It assumes the form of...whatever the hell it is Mewtwo is scared of. And then the fight depends on if Mewtwo can overcome that before It kills him. I'm not really seeing it, once Mewtwo's confidence is shaken
--
We are thought, and reality, and concept, and the unimaginable
Particularly since It can apparently low level reality warp, once he gets on a fear roll. If Mewtwo really is afraid of a Master Ball, It would probably suck him in and then crush him
--
We are thought, and reality, and concept, and the unimaginable
Mewtwo's greatest fear would probably involve re-living his first days in a test tube, seeing his friends die by evil scientist but only this time not being able to break out or something.

You beat yourself up with your past. Don't blame yourself, blame the world. Blame God. Blame me.
In theory, Mewtwo should be okay with moves like Calm Mind or Amnesia. He seems particularly skilled at the latter, when you remember how he managed to erase selective memories from Ash and co. in both movies.

I'm going with Mewtwo here.
Which he doesn't have AFAIK. We're using Movies/Anime mewtwo, just in case. If he displays those it's fair to assume he has them, otherwise no joy.

Mewtwo is the most powerful psychic in the entire Pokemon universe, and nobody here thinks he'd have the mental conditioning to handle something it find scary? Not to mention it could read It's mind and find out how to defeat him.
Mewtwo, easy.

If it becomes a physical object and Mewtwo smashes him, does that actually do anything to It?

How likely is It to use this? Mewtwo has a strong mind so I could see Mewtwo having a chance at turning this against It.
where in the anime does mewtwo show fear of a masterball? ive never seen a masterball in the anime lol.
A real Master Ball has only shown up once in the anime and it failed to catch the Pokemon it was thrown at. Mewtwo had absolutely nothing to do with the anime episode the Master Ball appeared in. I don't know if Mewtwo even knows what a Master Ball is let alone afraid of it.

It all depends on Mewtwo's ability to overcome his fear of whatever it was It turned into. The physical blow wouldn't do anything. Overcoming It's fear based power to hit him back would jack him up. That's how he works

Mewtwo's response to things that scare/disturb/annoy/anger him is pretty much to enter "nuke everything" mode. If It is harmed by belief, this is gonna be a problem, because Mewtwo's mindset is pretty much "I'm the strongest being in the world, nobody can hurt me, and I can defeat anyone under any condition".

This is sort of what I'm thinking of. If It turns into some of monster that Mewtwo is afraid of, I see Mewtwo's response as facing it head on and flinging Shadow Ball rather than turning and running away.
The asthma medicine worked like acid because the person believed that it was acid powerful enough to harm It, right? So if Mewtwo believes his Shadow Ball can hurt It, he would also be able hurt It, right?
How does It respond to fears of abstract things? Like if someone is afraid of death or loneliness. Does It have to transform into something physical?
