As someone who made shrimp étouffée and hushpuppies tonight, I can get behind this topic.

Also, people really shouldn't post pictures and say "This looks delicious!". Making food that looks good isn't hard, hell... when I first started cooking I made food that looked amazing. It just didn't taste as good as it looked. (Thankfully I am now at the point where it both looks and tastes good!)

Every time I eat thai curry I just keep thinking "why am I not eating indian curry right now?"

Even though I'm Indonesian... I can't stand most Indonesian sauces, and most of the cuisine use them. Sauceless is the way to go for me... for most food, actually. Screw your BBQ ketchup, Mayo, Soy Sauce, Dips, I like them plain.

That said, Ayam Pop is godly.

This is the worst thing about thai food. You can't go eat it without everyone at the table getting into this huge wang measurement contest talking about how spicy they like their food.

Who cares? I love spicy food. And I mean SPICY. I just don't rate the dish entirely on heat.
I complain that a thai dish I get is bland, and people just say "you need more spice". No, that won't make it taste better, how about you add some ****ing herbs and salt? But no, apparently the best way to make asian food is to dump bad noodles and bad meat into a bowl of chilis.

No thai food I've had even came close to the spiciness of some middle eastern stuff I like. Stuff that is both spicy AND delicious.
