After several nailbiter matches involving these two games, the finals...are sort of anticlimatic. But hey, B8's choice was clear - if you count C/D as actual votes, it's still a tie.
Thanks to everyone for voting! Hope you enjoyed the contest. Feel free to leave your thoughts on the results and the whole process.
From: Mb26 | #007 Ever17 is................... not a video game
I understand the appeal one would have towards a VN, but yea...it's not a video game. So...terrible result! even though I think I never voted once in this whole thing. I may have in a SoA match, I can't remember.

Obviously if Ever17 wants to remove the asterisk from its championship it needs to face Ar tonelico II in an exhibition match tbqhhhhhhhhh. >_>
More seriously, I'm just glad that some of my favorites lasted as long as they did. Xenosaga III went down early-ish, but P3 and Planescape made it far... enough to be eliminated back-to-back by Ever17. <_<

You see, the problem with VNs is that, if you put them in a game contest: people whine, if you put them in a book contest: people whine, and if you put them in a VN contest: no one votes!

How true actually <_<

Nice catch BlAcK TuRtLe. But too bad your ass got SAAAAAAAAAAACKED.*tackles*
If I had to choose one, they seem closer to CYOA books than they do to games to me.

From: Mb26 | #020 no seriously i have no idea what ever17 is about, why so people think its good?
*Minor back-of-the-box-type spoilers for Ever17 in case someone wanted to be dumb and mark me*
People are visiting an underwater amusement park named LeMU, and while they're there something happens that causes LeMU to start flooding. Only a handful of people are left in the park, and they're the main characters, and they only have a few days until the whole place collapses entirely, and they start to wonder if the 'accident' was really an accident at all.
*End minor spoilers*
It doesn't really give you a good idea of why people like it though, because no synopsis can explain why the characters are all really good and likable, and how the plot evolves from that without completely ruining it.
Lets just say that it's something that will leave a big impact on you after you read it, and is one of the most cited examples for "Why can't I erase my memory so I can experience this again?" among people that have read it.
Well I figured this contest would have a horrible result from the start. Glad I never bothered to vote. (Not that I'd have actually been able to vote for a game most of the time)
ZFS posted... well, the rules were in favor of a 'game' like ever17 or umineko or whatever. just that kinda contest!
This is very silly reasoning. The rule were in favor of things that people really like. I'm pretty sure that every VN outside of Ever17 was out by Round 4. MGS3 beat one of them. People here aren't mindless - they don't go OMG VN and vote for it. Ever17 won because it is very beloved.
