But my history of bad play could not have prepared me for how awful I am at UMvC3. I declare soundly that I am the worst on the board, and it won't even be close. Whyyyy did I spent $40 on this? I kind of hate it, because I feel like the characters I want to play as are completely useless against Wesker/Dante/Vergil/Wolverine. The cast is balanced, nobody sucks horribly (except Hsien-Ko), and saying it has low execution or a low-skill ceiling means you didn't try to get real meter out of your combos or big meterless damage. Call me when you can pull off a decent Mad Beast combo, or Rocket Raccoon's boulder loop, or Dieminion style zoning. Until then, don't complain about low execution! Like you can call Chun's leg assist in the middle of a combo to lengthen it, or call her to stuff an opponent in the corner etc. Usually almost any 3 characters work, you just have to figure out which assist you want. Point char = a character like Wesker that doesn't need meter to deal ridiculous damage Assist = would be something that should help you create openings/cover you/continue combos Anchor = would be someone that can use meter and X factor effectively If you practice simple combos in training mode you will easily beat people online! Now, on topic...basically this is pretty much it. There's two ways to go about this: A) Pick a team where everybody helps everybody. Don't worry if your characters aren't 'high-tier', that means absolutely nothing. For a good example of a player who built a super-synergistic team and did work in spite of 'playing low tier', google 'Bum stream umvc3', then skip to 40 minutes in (or don't, what comes before him is good too). B) Pick a team where one character is the lynchpin and the other two are the backups. The ultimate example of this in UMvC3 is Phoenix Wright, who needs specific team setups to get his evidence, but there's several characters like these: Frank West is another, for instance. Here, focus on getting REALLY good with the lynchpin and learning how to properly use your assists.
