Ahh, much better. Hiei makes it an even fight four about half the match, but then it's effects wear off and Toguro remains.

Sensui is an awesome villain and actually pretty complex for a shounen antagonist; you should continue.

Hiei's scared to fight Kurama. I think that gives Kurama the edge.

It has indeed aged well. I can still watch it today and love it just as much as I did years ago. It's just so good. The characters are so well developed, including the villains. Sensui is one of the greatest antagonists ever, in anything. You can actually feel sorry for him and even kind of relate to why he's doing what he's doing.

Chapter Black is the best saga, but Dark Tournament is close. Spirit Detective and Three Kings were awesome. Honestly I don't remember a lot of Three Kings... I should watch through that saga again.

Oh and Hiei > Yusuke > Kurama > Kuwabara. But they're all fantastic.

Can someone remind me why Sensui did what he did? I haven't seen it in years.

I remember him having 7 personalities, that the Gatekeeper was his lover, he was the former spirit detective, and I think I remember some scenes involving torturing demons and him going crazy? It has been too long since I saw it. I just remember thinking Sniper was the coolest of the "7" (even though the true 7 were Sensui's personalities).


Also, I haven't seen Three Kings at all. Should I go buy it? I own the DVDs for the other 3 sagas...never got around to getting the 4th in high school.

It witnessed humans torturing demons in terrible ways. This lead him to go insane, and no long grasp what is right and wrong.

Yeah. Growing up he had an intense knowing of what he felt what is right and what is wrong. Then with Koenma and King Enma and all other people putting a lot more pressure on "Humans are good, demons are bad". He went insane when he saw that everything he thought he knew and wanted to know was twisted and turned upside down.

I don't remember if there was some lesser demon soccer player in the Dark Tournament, but I also remember there was an explanation comparing the power of Toguro and Sensui using a soccer analogy.

I believe Sensui might have also kicked an energy ball at one point similar to how one would kick a soccer ball.

The only anime I've bothered watching to the end. It was great. There isn't a single bad character (except for maybe some of the people from Chapter Black, I didn't think they were developed enough). Seasons 1 and 2 are perfect (for different reasons, 1 has the perfect blend of action and drama, while 2 is just awesome fight after awesome fight for 60 episodes). Chapter Black ultimately wasn't that bad, but I just thought that the Sensui fight was way too long, which left a bad taste in my mouth. Three Kings isn't the best but it's short and sweet, in addition to having an awesome ending.

Yusuke and Kuwabara are both great (I slightly prefer Kuwabara) but Kurama is easily the best of the main four. He's one of the few main anime characters I know that is intelligent, he's more merciless than Hiei, and he's ridiculously powerful. I love how he's kind to those who deserve it but will have zero regrets about killing those who don't deserve kindness. Hiei isn't bad either but I don't think he gets developed enough until Season 4, but when he does get there he's great. Even all the supporting characters are great (Koenma and George are the best!).

My favorite fights are the Teguro fight (for obvious reasons) and that fight against the guy who could clone himself in Season 1, whose name escapes me (I just love how it's the time when Yusuke uses literally every ounce of his power that he had at the time, plus Resident Evil: Keiko and Botan Edition was interspersed in-between).

Yeah Sensui's first personality (Minoru) had an attack where he kicked a ball of energy. It was his version of the Spirit Gun, basically. He had a variation of it where he kicks it and it reacts like Yusuke's Shotgun.

You should definitely watch it. It has two of Hiei's best episodes. Yusuke's final fight is one of the best in the series. And the ending is so perfect.

You are somewhat distant (some might say "cold"), preferring to conduct your business on the DL instead of attracting a lot of attention.

This topic inspired me to re-watch the whole series and then buy the final season after I finished running through the other 3. I just spent 35 minutes dusting off the DVD cases which were under my bed. Wow that was annoying.

Most of the time when people say Toguro they mean the younger (main) one. If they mean elder Toguro, they clarify by saying elder Toguro.

Toguro was cool, but he's no Sensui.

I thought Toguro was kind of bad as a villain. I mean he was alright for a final boss, but there wasn't really anything to him as a character and I really didn't like his English VA.

I should re-watch the first few sagas again. Hiei vs. Bui is my favorite fight. Him calling out the Dragon of the Darkness Flame was too badass.

One of my favorite anime. Great story, dubbing, characters, fights, music, etc.

The only thing I didn't like was anything after Yusuke's revival. I already knew about the Raizen possession, but I still wished it was just Demon Yusuke who finished Sensui.

And the Three Kings Saga sucked donkey balls. But everything before that was excellent.

I rewatched the whole series last summer, all 100+ episodes. I haven't watched anime in a while, I forgot how much filler there can be at some points. I was so pumped when we finally got the first DDF.I really want to rewatch Rurouni Kenshin though. I think that's the show I have the fondest memories of.
