Rules: There may be spoilers for all seven books and 8 movies. Each match will last for exactly 24 hours. Any votes after that point will not count. Discussion is encouraged but not required. Make sure all of your votes are obvious. I should know who you are voting for, basically don't bury your vote in the middle of a paragraph. No alt-voting. Ties will be replayed the next day with the rest of the matches. No vote-saves or rallying for specific characters. Telling people to vote is encouraged but don't tell them how to vote! Don't complain about the seeds, they were the result of a save-my. Because matches can overlap, results will be in this topic. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/8-gamefaqs-contests/61327435
(1)Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore (16)Ludovic Bagman
(1)Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore (16)Ludovic Bagman
Ok, rough draw for Bagman. Bagman is a pretty good character; would get my vote against quite a bit of this 8-pack, but...it's Dumbledore.
(8)Teddy Remus Lupin (9)Katie Bell
Like these two, for instance; I'd take Bagman over either one. Between these two...Katie is not an epilogue-only character, and in fact has little bits of characterization interspersed throughout the books. She's the one that got hit with the cursed necklace in book 6. She was the second youngest player on Gryffindor when Harry joined the team, and has a pretty constant role as far as quidditch goes; she speaks a decent number of Slytherin insults on behalf of the Gryffindor team.
(5)Aberforth Dumbledore (12)Vincent Crabbe
Yeah, this is not close to me. Despite appearing in all seven books, Crabbe fails to develop an interesting personality. Aberforth gushes personality despite only getting lines in the last half of the last book.
(4)George Weasley (13)Moaning Myrtle
You know what? Let me make the controversial pick here. I wouldn't take Myrtle over "Fred and George", but the truth is, for whatever reason Fred gets 80% of the "Fred and George" lines. Do I like Myrtle more than 20% of Fred and George? You know: yeah, I think I do.
For all that it's also totally reasonable to vote George here. I never know how to handle these guys when presented individually instead of as a pair.

I understand. Fred does get 90% of the good lines of the two of them. And while Myrtle has a compelling past, I don't find the character herself all that likable. Of course I wouldn't spite anyone who does.

GenesisSaga posted... And while Myrtle has a compelling past, I don't find the character herself all that likable.
(mild spoilers I guess)
Yeah, that's fair. Personally, I didn't like her much my first time through, but the more I read the books the more I think she's a pretty amazing troll, and easily the most entertaining ghost. Also, her hooking up with Malfoy was brilliant, and subtly communicated all kinds of things about Malfoy's mental state.
...You know, I have to wonder how many people are getting Teddy confused with Remus. Teddy literally doesn't appear in any of the movies (even the deleted scenes) and if I'm remembering correctly he is never actually seen in the books (only talked about second-hand). I mean, I can potentially see voting for him anyway, but I wouldn't call it an "easy choice".

I'm indifferent to both Katie and Teddy, BUT whereas one is a background Quidditch player I don't care about, the other is the offspring of two characters I DO care about. Nymphadora Tonks is my favorite female HP character, just beating out McGonagall and Hermione for that #1 spot in my heart. Remus Lupin is my fifth favorite male character and my favorite professor. I'm not so much voting Teddy as I'm voting "the legacy of Tonks and Lupin".
Also I deeply resent Rowling for killing them both off and leaving poor Theodore an orphan. They didn't both need to die. That was a dick move. >_>
