The English league, in general, has been way better than La Liga in the post-war era, but since turning into the Premier League it's been declining. I'd still argue it's better, but not by a whole lot. Hopefully the fair play rules open things up again - as a Scot, I know that English football deserves more than domination by a very small number of clubs.

Also, am I the only one who doesn't see Harry Redknapp taking the England job? He's settled and doing well where he is, and the England job is a horrible one even at the best of times (this isn't the best of times, or even close). I'd bet he's giving big consideration to giving it a pass for now.

Evra has to be one of the most detestable people I've seen playing the game in some time. Rio Ferdinand runs him close. British media seems hell bent on villainising someone in this as they were in the Anton/Terry thing rather than accepting both parties involved are utter tools.

Manager interviews afterwards were hilarious. Dalglish apparently didn't see the handshake, Ferguson didn't see Evra celebrating, although he was happy to proclaim Suarez was a disgrace to Liverpool and should never play for them again. Ferguson, the same manager who had a player kung fu kick a supporter and was happy to reinstate him is claiming someone who supposedly shirked a handshake should be kicked out of his club.

The sport, its culture and its media are just making an absolute disgrace of themselves through all this.

Regarding the Liverpool thing, I'm glad I wasn't around when Dalglish was managing before. It saved me the kind of dewy-eyed nostalgia some of the older generation have for the man.

He's been nothing more than a deluded, worthless douchebag since he took over. His (and Liverpool as a whole's) overblown, overexaggerated defence of Suarez has given Suarez himself this belief that he was the one wronged by this whole situation. It's incredible that the guy who is actually "racist" is the one who doesn't shake the hand of the one he "abused". I don't think that non-handshake happens, and I don't think the silly controversy from today happens, if Liverpool don't throw this obscene amount of support behind Suarez.

Evra is a massive, massive c*** - the man has cried racism thrice and this is the only time anything has happened, and even this one is in debate given the vagueness of it all - but Suarez is worse. The handshake thing is just a routine and it's kind of silly tradition I guess but deliberately shirking it when you are the guilty party is insane. And though Suarez is a dick, Liverpool's blind defence of him has given him license to be one. Wearing those shirts at the game away to Wigan, Dalglish's refusal to say anything today, it's ridiculous.

Anyone who thinks Dalglish didn't see, or at least wasn't aware, of the non-handshake, is a fool btw. There's half-time, the crowd noise when it happened and such...yeah, he knew about it. Ferguson knew about the celebration afterwards and actually condemned Evra for it, though given Suarez is the one who started s*** today he deserved it.

Not often I side with Man Utd - and they are also c***s, don't get me wrong - but Suarez and Liverpool should be ashamed of themselves. Suarez of his own pathetic existence and Liverpool of their blind defence of him that allowed a racist to play the guilty party.

Don't get me wrong, shirking a handshake shouldn't really be an issue. But the fact of the matter is that it is, and Suarez knew that. He knew not shaking Evra's hand would lead to some things boiling over today.

Just got home and got to watch the recording of the match.

That man. OH, that man. <3 The game was a really tough one and you could see how much effort Sunderland put in to playing anti-footb-ER defending. Overall though I feel like we did great to come back after that stupid Mertesacker thing. Lord that was bad. I hope it's not as bad as it looked in terms of injury.

I thought Song and Arteta were both massive. Koscielny was great as well. The Ox didn't look so hot but I think Sunderland just had him figured out, and cheers to Arshavin for providing such an excellent cross and what's left to say about Thierry Henry? He would score the late winner in his final EPL game for Arsenal ever. :)
