I have like 500,000 Platinum and Palladium and 700,000 Iridium, along with about 60,000 Element Zero, with nothing currently to actually upgrade. I've been mining every single planet... but is this a waste of time? I feel like I have enough resources now. Is investigating the planets beyond the Loyalty missions even worth it, either?

Also, I don't know if you've completed the main game yet or not, but make sure you download the DLC missions for Lair of the Shadow Broker, Project Overlord, and Arrival. All are good.

I still have a good handful of loyalty missions to complete before I go through. I'm sort of over the "extra" missions (exploring planets for anomalies and doing all the random stuff), but I'll finish the loyalty missions.

Sorozone posted... From: DaruniaTheGoron | #017 I explored every planet I think but I didn't mine the crap out of them all, lol. Same, I find it hilarious that he managed to get that amount of materials.
I mean the most you probably need is 45,000 Element Zero, and around 180,000 of everything else. 500,000 and 700,000 is just absurd.
I didn't realize I didn't need to! I thought it would unlock more missions or come in handy or something, or depleting planets would win me something, or... something.
But yeah, I've pretty much been doing EVERYTHING you can (sandbox games are horrible for my OCD, so I've never played one through besides GTA until now), but man, the flying around in my little shuttle and collecting stuff missions are so boring. And the random anomaly missions... basically anything non-recruiting or non-loyalty. But if I skip them, I'll feel weird. It's an awful position to be in! But I just want to finish the damned game and enjoy the ending and stuff. I've already put around 65hrs in.

If you really want to do all of the non-Loyalty side missions, just use a guide to find out how to trigger them. There aren't that many (I want to say less than 20, and some of them are connected so you only get some by beating the quest before it), yet there are SO MANY planets to scan.

I've been pretty thorough overall in the missions that I've done, but it's not that I don't want to find them all, I'm basically just going to every planet and doing everything I possibly can.
It's just that I don't want to anymore, lol. I want to just beat the game! But now that my crew is inevitably dead, I might as well finish the loyalty missions so that my team can at least survive. God knows I have every upgrade ever anyway.
I've completed the loyalty missions for Jacob, Samara, Legion, Jack, and Zaeed. Still need Miranda, Grunt, Tali, Mordin, Kasumi, Garrus, and uhh anyone else I'm forgetting.
So far, I've basically been going through with Garrus and Kasumi.

Yeah I understand. I'm doing a bunch of different files just see the different dialogue, doing different choices. My first file was basically me choosing what I would choose irl, then I did a renegade Shepard, now I'm doing a Paragon shepard. After that I'll do a female shepard, not sure if I'll choose renegade or paragon yet. >_>
Even though my first file was mostly paragon(male), I flubbed up on picking a romance, so I feel the need to do it again. lol
It just blows my mind that you mined that much material is all. So much so I find it humorous.
Now my fiancee wants to play through it since she watched me play through some loyalty missions and the ending Omega-4 attack. Heh. I played with a FemShepard who was slightly more renegade than paragon.
