I'm bored.

My favorite is of course hockey. It's really the only sport I absolutely love and follow. It's just so good. Constant action, real men, and the best team ethic. I love the camaraderie.

Baseball.

There's a bunch of it, plus Diamondbacks tickets are cheap, they also have the cheapest beers in the majors(might even be all major sporting events too. It's $4).

Baseball is super exciting. Nothing like walk-off HR's or crazy ass 6-7 run bottom of the ninth to complete the comeback. Pitching duels are also awesome.

I don't see how people can't find it amazing.

I think I'd like baseball more if the season weren't so long.

Plus, it's not just a game I feel like I can just pick up and watch regardless of who's playing. If the Braves aren't playing, I don't really care.

Oddly, my enjoyment of baseball comes largely from not paying the most attention to it the whole time. I love putting it on the radio or TV and having it in the background while I do other stuff, but can tune right in when something exciting is going down. Of course, I have difficulty watching most sporting events from start to finish.

That said, I've gotta give it to hockey. Why I can't really explain so well aside from considering it the most thrilling to watch.

Now for actually playing the game, that goes to either tennis or basketball.

There's a bunch of people standing in the field waiting to do something in baseball. Other sports don't have that problem, as much. Hockey especially. Everyone is constantly moving and doing something.

I also dislike baseball because it's what pansies play. Someone will twist their finger and be out for however long while still getting paid millions of dollars. Whereas hockey, players get knocked the f*** around all over the place and they keep playing. Real men play hockey.

Funny, they don't seem to do much while they sitting on the bench. It's almost as if they're doing... nothing. Meanwhile, a baseball player has to be ready on every single pitch, because you really have no idea whether it will be hit to you or not and you have to make a proper jump on the ball to ensure you make the right play.

Someone will twist their finger and be out for however long while still getting paid millions of dollars.

Considering the fact that a messed up index finger heavily affects the ability grip and deliver a ball properly, yeah, I can see how that would cost a player some games. It's not as simple as "tape it up and you're good to go." Especially if you're a pitcher.

Not saying that MLB players are tougher than hockey guys, but calling them pansies is completely missing the point.

Baseball works for this too but the action is too slow for a lot of it. Pitching duels can be cool if they're both destroying, and home runs are cool, but there are just too many at bats where it just doesn't feel significant. Typically is a problem when one team gets ahead by like 3-- then every at bat where no one's on seems insignificant and there are a lot of those-- I realize they are but yeah. That being said it's my second favorite.

Soccer has the action and not much scoring but the scoring is too anemic for me-- you get one or two "big moments" a game if you're lucky. Because the ball moves too easily up and down field so it really only seems like an accomplishment to score and you hardly get any scores in a game.

Basketball has too much scoring, making any individual point seem insignificant. Big moments are pretty much limited to the end of the game and massive comebacks-- and you don't get the same impact of big football comebacks because those are done in big chunks of plays rather than gradually by nickel and diming.

Hockey's like Soccer but better, pretty much. More scoring helps and the plays just feel more "crisp"... I'm not sure if anyone gets what I mean but like a hockey goal is more satisfying to watch than a soccer goal most of the time for me.

Boxing is too defensive for me. UFC has too much resting/jockeying for position. Racing is a monotonous waste of time.

Even funnier, because while in baseball, the batting team has everyone of their team sitting on a bench while one of them bats. And it's slow. Yeah, everyone in the field has to be ready, but if the ball doesn't come near them, then they continue to do nothing. Or if the batter misses the ball, of course, they continue to do nothing. Baseball involves skill, yeah, and there is indeed some action in it. And sometimes it can be exciting. But it's usually pretty slow.

While in hockey, the players sitting on the bench are preparing for their shift while the teammates on the ice are constantly moving and doing stuff. When they shift, it's quick and the action continues at all times.

Considering the fact that a messed up index finger heavily affects the ability grip and deliver a ball properly, yeah, I can see how that would cost a player some games. It's not as simple as "tape it up and you're good to go." Especially if you're a pitcher.

Okay mister literate. I didn't use the best example, but what I meant was a baseball player gets a minor injury that shouldn't affect their game, and yet they still choose to miss several games while getting paid more than any of us ever will. Hockey players don't do that. They continue to play as long as they're allowed to because they actually love the game and don't want to miss out.

Hockey. I could give plenty of reasons (others have already been given and I agree with them) but I'll be perfectly honest and say it's ultimately because I'm Canadian. It's far easier to get into a sport when everyone around you is excited by it. I have no illusions that my favourite sport would be anything but soccer if I lived in, say, South America. And I don't actually like soccer much as is!

Second favourite is American football or tennis.

Hockey players don't do that. They continue to play as long as they're allowed to because they actually love the game and don't want to miss out.

MLB players rarely miss games due to "minor" injuries. Hence the term. There's also a difference between the MLB and NHL: MLB is a marathon, where you find yourself playing games on a nightly basis, with only the occasional break. For example: The Tigers played 27 out of the 30 days in September, 28 out of the 31 days in August, and 26 out of the 31 days in July (4 straight off for the All-Star Break), 28 out of the 30 days in June, 30 out of the 31 days in May, and 26 out of the 30 days in April. If a player was suffering from an injury, which would you rather do: give him a day off since he's going to play a nightly basis, or parade him out there injured every night and risk worsening the injury before it heals? If I was a manager, I'd rather do the latter.

I'm not even going to bother arguing this other point. Arguing over how passionate a player is to play a sport is stupid because it goes on an individual basis. Baseball players HAVE to miss games sometimes because they're looking at the big picture: miss a few games now and heal up, or run out there until you aggravate the injury and suddenly you're on the 60 day DL.

Oh alright, fair enough. I wasn't aware they had to play so much. But of course, hockey is way more physically exhausting for players because they have to constantly move. Baseball players not so much.

Regardless, I will concede. I still and will always think that hockey players are way way more manly than baseball players, but I will no longer refer to baseball players as pansies.

Don't really have one. I followed sports - all major sports - obsessively during my younger teen years. I memorized enough facts and figures to fill a book, and I got caught up in all the big moments and really gained an appreciation for sports history. Hell, I watched golf when Tiger wasn't even in the field. I simply burned out on sports fandom at a young age, so I've barely followed any leagues since I entered college. I guess my answer nowadays is

Soccer during the World Cup
MMA during a big fight
Golf when Tiger is dominating (please let this happen again)
Football during an exciting playoff game or lazy Sunday

Folkstyle wrestling, Collegiate specifically. It's hard to explain why. Wrestling is a sport I've been around my whole life, and when I got to college, the home town team was the best in the nation, so it was easy to get really into it. It's a sport with both team glory and individual glory as postseason tournaments. Many years, the national tournament contains more excitement for me than first and second round of march madness which is often held the same weekend.

This is pretty much how I feel. Football > Baseball > Hockey for watching on TV, other sports I don't really care about. I used to be into basketball back in the 90s days of Michael Jordan, NBA Jam, and the Knicks' Finals run, but I haven't been able to get into it for over 15 years. Even back then, I always felt like the game wasn't interesting until the 4th quarter.

Hard for me to say which one I like more, if that's different from how much I like to watch them on TV.
