I'm liking Mirai Nikki more than the manga. It has better overall direction and because the studio actually knows the story ahead of time (lets face it, the author was clearly making stuff up as he went along) stuff seems to flow better and is presented in ways that make a bit more sense.

brave10 starts looking like a fine timepasser until it starts turning to crap real quick. seconding daily lives as an awesome show.
let's see... if you're familiar with onegai sensei/please teacher, ano natsu might as well be a spiritual sequel to it (not twins, **** twins). if you liked that show, you'll like this one. even the music is similar. if you didn't, you won't. if you're not familiar.... slice of life romance/comedy. nisemonogatari = bakamonogatari sequel. if you liked the original you'll like this. if you didn't see the original then see the original. pirates you'd probably like. it's a bit slower paced but the characters are fairly sensible. space pirates. rinne no lagrange might end up as my fave of the season though. best female lead in years. that's... mostly it that isn't a sequel or nisemonogatari that i'd say give a shot to. kill me baby is entirely a timewaster that's enjoyable when it lasts but nothing to really recommend. amagami ss+ isn't nearly as good as ss. symphogear has amazing music, but the show itself isn't. the saving grace of the show is that its focus IS the music. -- The King Wang. i didn't read the deadman wonderland manga so i can't tell you what they did. never finished either, but got about halfway through. went into it blind and uh.... that wasn't a good idea i noticed.
will prob finish it down the road though. it certainly STARTS interesting. if you want to see a gorefest the show will certainly deliver. also, if you just want slice of life comedy you just missed a show that completed, Nichijou. superior to Minami-ke and Hyakko at it. daily lives coming afterwards is too convinient to be a coincidence. -- The King Wang. Brave10 is definitely watchable.
Others that are good from this season: DLoHB Rinne no Lagrange- it shares a lot of elements with your typical moe show but with Giant and robots and pretty entertaining combat when it comes up. Also cool visuals etc. Gundam AGE- If you like Gundam this ones pretty good. And even if you dont its gundam by level 5 so the art is pretty unique. Another- Final Destination the anime. Unintentionally hilarious horror/thriller I recommend it the rest of the stuff im enjoying probably isnt for you aside from Bakuman, Bleach and Sket Dance though. as a warning though watch out for manga. gore is much easier to deliver in manga due to not having to animate it since you can just draw a detailed panel rather than like a ton of incredibly detailed frames. as such it's also more frequent and there are also artists perfected the style a bit more.

It's a very cool show, I've watched it many times. For me the big draw is the philosophical aspects and really just the way the story is presented and unfolds. Especially after you've read some of the books in the series it's even more enjoyable. Of course I prefer the books myself for the most part.

Well I was in elementary school (or was it early middle?) and watched it in a dark room with no window curtains in the middle of the night.
So, yeah. Maybe not scary anymore. I bought it dirt cheap a few weeks ago, like $6. Plan on watching it again eventually. Also picked up Geneshaft dirt cheap. Liked that show a lot. And Vandread. LOVED that. Man, Anime Unleashed was awesome. Still looking for Silent Mobius a little cheaper. Well the anime isn't directly based on one of the books, it takes place between book 1 and book 2. But it was written and maybe also directed by the author of the books. The movie (the live action Boogiepop movie) is an adaptation of the first book. It came with my box set of the anime but I've never actually watched it. There's also a manga adaptation of the first book which is pretty faithful so if you can't get your hands on any of the books that'd be a good place to start (especially since it leads right into the anime series).

honestly, gore in general for some reason either a) difficult to portray in any visual medium, or b) so far out there that you can't help but be disgusted, however these films aren't mainstream movies so you do have to search for them. some people for some reason suck at dealing with blood in any way, and let's face it, half of hollywood blood looks so fake or makes so little sense that it ain't worth writing about (on the other hand, medical shows have it down pretty hard, so maybe the former needs to take lessons from the latter).
i'm also pretty sure half the reason why all our old horror movies went away is because we just... didn't have anything to be scared with them. they were more funny than scary, which is why everything's a damn thriller now if it's a movie and it's damn near impossible to make a horror flick that isn't focused more on that. those just work for me that well personally. i think the only horror movies i like are stephen king movies, so... yeah. anime at least has been more interesting to me there as there's some creepiness and violence i can find that won't be done live-action as anything that could do it ends up going way too far and focuses on the violence instead of the everything else. i just find it so weird that the best things to scare you end up being done in text because visual representation is incredibly difficult. comics and manga tout that middle ground due to yeah, it being easier to draw something and allow the reader to fill in the blanks with what you've given them. still images are perfect as the in between. as for lain forever 100+.... really? >___>; got that one years ago for something that *i* consider reasonable.... and that's usually in the realm of 'everyone else considers it cheap.' -- The King Wang. Did something happen in your past that made you that bad with blood? I mean, in my past I ended up cracking my friend's head open (long story, not gonna waste anymore time than necessary) and it caused me to imagine pain onto myself. So most anime blood I can handle since it's just drawn, but anything outside of anime gets me. Some video games do too. That's the reason I can't handle most horror... and also that I'm skiddish. and if blood spurting is the worst you're gonna take, stay far away from deadman wonderland. the main cast is a group of people who manipulate their own blood, the plot starts with them being pitted against one another, gladiator style. the lead shoots blood bullets, another character uses blood-whip/blood blades, and one of them makes blood bombs. naturally the blood has to be extracted to do all that. pretty much, in every episode there's a lot of blood going around as that's quite literally how their powers work. though remember: bleach's ability for every character to have more blood than an SUV's oil tank is just excessive blood. what you really need to worry about is selective bleeding. shows that don't house as much but focus on large yet realistic amounts coupled with creepier settings. those are the ones that'll get you good. -- The King Wang.
