Board 8 > Replaying MGS3, just finished The End. (spoilers)

I have never actually sniper dueled him. I've always found it easier to sneak up behind him, shotgun him three times, follow him using the thermal goggles, and repeat until he dies. I've never properly CQC battled The Boss, either, so I hope to actually do that this time around.

Anyway, should I play Peace Walker or MGS4 next? I'll play both eventually (I've already played MGS4 but not PW), but I've heard PW has no real boss battles like the other games.

Also, The Fear was even worse than I remembered him being. Maybe I battled him in the wrong way, I just used the thermal goggles and AK-47.

Also, stun grenade + AK -- best way to take out The Fear. Lasts only a few seconds.

Sniper dueling is pretty intense, but it can be time-consuming, yeah.

if you must, just watch the cutscenes on youtube, but I really think it's best to just pretend it doesn't exist.

I'd definitely say watch the cutscenes of PO on Youtube. The game isn't great, but it's not bad, and worth knowing the story of.

Then play MGS4, then PW.

Portable Ops is basically completely irrelevant to the rest of the series besides the ending cutscenes (ie anything after the final boss fight).

I haven't played either(no PSP) but I'd heard that PW pretty much decanonized PO?

I wouldn't say that, so much as they just kind of ignore it. There aren't any references in Peace Walker other than a character going "Let's try to leave all that behind us" in the beginning

More or less. I think there is one thing that happens at the end of PO that they reference in a side conversation, but otherwise the details of events in PO are ignored to the point where it makes more sense to consider them non-canon, whether that's true or not. PO itself still definitely happened, though.

Seems too cruel to me. I mean... Yes, I could just beat him by sniping him early on or saving and setting the clock ahead, but dammit, the man just wants one final battle, and I have to give it to him.

not unless a dinosaur is a normal human to you.

I understand that the concept is uncomfortable, but I assure you PW is the best game in the series. They may not be humans, but there are still a billion different ways to take down each boss, and it's a lot of fun.

PW is unquestionably the best in the series. It's fast, the multiplayer is solid, sneaking and gameplay options are better done than ever before.

The only real problem is the story is blaze and a little predictable(You know who the final boss is as soon as they're introduced), but after the abortion that is 2, it's almost a welcome change.

Its multiplayer is irrelevant to me (I mostly play fighting games for multiplayer), but alright, I'll give it a shot.
