Couldn't really fit it all in the title, but the third question is what in your opinion is the greatest game ever made? Which for me at least, doesn't necessarily have to be your favorite!
Favorite Game: Persona 4 Favorite Series: Ace Attorney Best Game Ever: Ocarina of Time
Don't have one Zelda Super Mario Galaxy 2 I suppose, but really see my first answer
Why should I pick just one? I have several favourites, and several potential picks for best game ever. I singled out SMG2 because it was the only one of those with absolutely no flaws, but it's still not necessarily the best.

From: Vlado | #011 If your "favourite" and "best game ever" don't coincide, then I do not take your opinions as a gamer seriously.
Why? Persona 4 is my favorite game because of it's excellent story, characters, and art direction. However I believe that Ocarina of Time stands as the greatest game ever because in many ways it's perfect, particularly in it's revolutionary gameplay.
OoT is far from perfect, I do think it's legit reasoning for favorite and best to be separate, but it's hard to make that case when you're using such a flawed game as best
Favorite Game: Super Mario 64 Favorite Series: Pokemon Best Game Ever Made: Super Mario 64
To this day, no other game has matched SM64 in terms of platforming greatness, not even other Mario games. Galaxy came sort of close, but still not quite there. The pacing, the variety of levels, the tight controls, and just the overall magic put this game at the top for me.
As for Pokemon, this series is electronic crack for me. I can't get enough of it.

Normally I'd say "favourite" and "best" are the same thing, but I'll place more weight on a game being without flaws for the "best" category (though as a huge fan of OoT, I wouldn't consider it close to "flawless" so maybe that's not what you're getting at).
Final Fantasy X: Beautiful, in every way. Metal Gear Solid: So many brilliant moments. Super Mario Galaxy 2: Perfect. Game design of the very highest quality, with vibrant colour, soaring music and charming characters to match.

MGS2 changed the way I personally look at games and was the first to really wow me. "Objectively", though, I think RE4 edges it.
How is it "objectivity" when just about everyone gave a different answer, genius?
I literally do not understand how somebody could dislike Resident Evil 4. I understand how you could dislike MGS2, though.
Get the difference?

I could see answering differently for 1 and 3 if your favorite game has a couple of significant flaws you can see easily that don't bother you enough and you like another less flawed game almost as much. But yeah it's kinda weird.

MycroProcessor posted... "Best Game Ever": Riven: The Sequel to Myst
Yess Riven is a masterpiece. It's like the perfect storm of great adventure game design. It is such a shame Robyn Miller and Richard Vander Wende fell off the face of the planet after Riven. I place the majority of Riven's greatness on those two and Cyan hasn't been able to make a good game since they quit.

Series: Zelda Game: Star Wars Battlefront II Best: Resident Evil 4
edit: The only reason why Battlefront II is not on top is because people who aren't fans of star wars will only consider it an average battlefield clone. RE4's my second favorite game, though.
