From: futuresuperstar | #241 What happened to Grunt, by the way? He came out of the cave covered in blood after kicking Ravager ass, but I haven't seen him since.
Apparently he can die there, which is why he doesn't have any scenes after that. It's supposedly dependent on his loyalty from ME2.
I really like the game but I feel like it's exaggerating everything. Everyone thinks Prothean are calm, nice scholars? LET'S GIVE THEM A KROGAN PROTHEAN! Also the fact you have to go out of your way really to make sure everyone in your squad lives is a bit of a pain and even then. I get that some people die, and I really feel some deaths were necessary, but it may just be a bit over-top. And also good lord the dreams of that kid are annoying.
The look on Shepard's face when the kid goes up in flames is the same look I had on my face -- disbelief and contempt at the lame dream sequence playing out before me.
From: Pirateking2000 | Posted: 3/12/2012 7:08:46 PM | #257 Also was I the only who expected that there would be a screamer with the first dream in the beginning?
I thought the kid was going to turn into a husk.

That's what I thought in the first dream when he slowly starts turning around, I figured he was gonna be a husk. That would have been way more awesome.

Also, as for the spoilers about a mission from earlier in the topic with Geth etc....
*Spoilers*
-------
When I did that and it was all Paragon and good and everybody came out A-ok, Tali did open her mask to soak in some of her homeworld. In a bad version of events she opens her mask and it's deadly apparently. But... why does opening the mask kill her in one version of events, but not the other?

You and I are about the same area, Psycho. I just finished the Thessia mission. Hot damn. This game is so much more intense than ME2, and I like the writing a lot more. At least so far.

From: Psycho_Kenshin | #264 All righty, I'm about to land on Thessia for the first time, how close am I to the end of the game folks?
Level 52, pretty much everything is full, on one hand it would feel kinda short if I'm near the end but I dunno.
After Thessia there are only three more missions. And be careful because when you go to the second of those three missions, there's a point of no return.
And yeah it seems short but it took me 30 hours, so I guess I just played the hell out of it.

From: baron von toast | #279 Here's my revised ending: The Reapers die and everyone is happy. The end.
I don't even care if the ending is happy, or sad and depressing. I just want it to make some goddamn sense and actually make my prior choices worth something.
Haha, awesome. If you don't do Project Overlord in ME2, David won't be in Grissom Academy, so you can choose the Renegade option to get Garrus to rip the shield down with his Omni-tool. It's pretty badass.

The worst part is that the ending they left in would have been fine if only they'd have ironed out the details and added an epilogue. You know, put effort into it.
As it is it's just bad writing.

You got to choose the color of the fireworks. What more do you want?!
Your choices influence the game as the game happens. Just because the last five minutes didn't tie everything into a neat little bow doesn't mean all of your choices were meaningless. And the ending wasn't bad - what was bad about it? The paragon ending (which I assume most people play for in their first playthrough) was thematically consistent with the entire series, the final confrontations were appropriately foreshadowed, and there were compelling false endings. The last priority mission isn't flawless; I'd say the epilogue is ham-fisted, the Normandy crew members are strange choices, and the final boss is a bit lame, but I don't think those flaws are enough to warrant the absolute trashing Bioware is receiving right now.
EDIT: if there's one thing to complain about, it's the multiplayer, definitely. It's especially frustrating because it's kind of good! It's not the best wave-based survival mode out there, but it's a nice distraction for a couple weeks. Unfortunately, the few weeks where the game will have the most attention is marred by bad servers and matchmaking.

It's so difficult to get into a Gold match with skilled players. I just had one, it went amazingly well. We all knew how to work as a team, even the Geth Primes didn't stand a chance against us. Too bad they all left after that match.

Surprise Marauder is the best final boss ever. Don't hate.

Ending and character death spoilrs
In my case it's the fact that the game(s) are all about choice and in the end you really don't have one, for the most part, regardless of what you choose, the ending is basically the same. Also, not being able to tell the kid to "shut the f*** up, we'll make our own decisions" was really disappointing. I still really like the game, the gameplay was good, the story had some great moments, Thane's death scene was perfectly executed, Legion sacrificing himself so the rest of the Geth could have individuality was, for me, very emotional. As much as I don't like the fact that three of my favorite characters from the series die, those scenes were outstandingly written, and they way they were executed I wouldn't change a thing about those events (Paragon run obviously.) I just found the ending to be very disappointing, the game is still a 4/5 for me though.
