iPhone 4S if you're mainly into texting, Facebook, and apps.

The Droid Razr and Droid Razr Maxx (Same phone, bigger battery and backside) are good but their screen's are lacking. The best Android phone available now is the Galaxy Nexus.

If fast web browsing is what you're after, the Galaxy Nexus is the best choice. It has a big high resolution screen, with a speedy processor and no added bloatware from carriers or manufacturer skins to slow it down. While the screen size may seem intimidating, the way the phone is crafted makes it fit perfectly in your hand, and there is barely any bezel (the front side of the phone that's not the screen), so it's still quite sleek.

Razor Maxx, Galaxy Nexus, and Galaxy S2 (if you want something cheaper) are all fantastic phones. Nexus has fastest web browsing since you can use Chrome on it.

I didn't like the Razr reg cell phone at all... horrible battery life. Dunno if the smart phone one is better.

I like my Galaxy.

...why would the original RAZR have anything to do with the Droid one? That phone came out like 8 years ago... they just use the same name because it's thin as hell.

But the Nexus is probably the best phone in general right now, for reasons that the others have already mentioned.

I like my Droid 2 pretty well if cost is an issue. Web-browsing is pretty quick for me too.

good woman because not all this advice is that true.

first off, the galaxy nexus is a great phone and an arguable contender for best phone out there right now, HOWEVER there are 3 problems it has:

1) things are taking a really quick spike right now. there's a lot of new players coming out and older ones are beefing up their own machines.
2) it's a big phone. 4.65" screen is sexy as hell and the phone is actually pretty good on the feel. despite being so big it's not THAT much bigger to hold than a lot of other 4.3" screens.
3) its main perk right now is something that won't be a real perk within 2 months (it has ice cream sandwich) compared to what's out there and what will be out there.

it does have pros to it however, biggest being 'it's google.' i assume you're on contract with verizon? if not then the international version does exist. it has a 720p resolution and native ice cream sandwich, which as mentioned, has Chrome - easily the best browser on a phone right now.

Razr is a fine phone mind you. absolutely nothing is wrong with it - 4.3" is a great size screen, awesome display and specs. honestly it's probably a top 5 phone out there, but i do prefer the HTC Rezound and consider that the best right now personally, partially because i just prefer HTC's builds than Samsung's. don't think that's on Verizon though.

what options you got. start with that. also what are the prices you're looking at.you don't need 'top of the line' necessarily, you just need a good phone with a large screen. though if you're going for the former say so. >.>

huh. stand corrected, rezound is verizon as well. launched at a similar time as the original razr too. that's the real contender with the nexus right now for best phone, and ice cream sandwich isn't even a big gap between 'em either because it's already leaked for that phone so you can pretty much see it real soon. >_>;

it doesn't have to be top of the line. we'll visit image heavy, but not video heavy, websites. webbrowsing speed should be high. the screen shouldn't be over large, or we'd get another tablet.

is anything wrong with the razr? what about the bionic?

oh yeah, we rarely text, and we will be getting verizon when we get a new phone.

webbrowsing just basically means which one will get ice cream sandwich first so you can use chrome. which case you have the nexus (which does already), the rezound (which has the RC leaked so we know will very, very soon), and the rest kinda is a ??? land. i mean they're all pretty fast nowadays so there's less on that, but the biggest thing you're really after is a phone that can go in and out of 2g/3g/4g seemlessly. of which, the rezound does it best, and when it gets the update, should be the better one. as for being overly large, best advice is try the nexus yourself for a bit somewhere. personally i thought it'd be large but when i held it, thing was easy and smooth. still, it's kinda plastic-y - the main issue with samsung builds there basically.

nothing wrong with the razr. nothing wrong with the bionic either - it's a bit weaker and isn't built as well as the razr but that's because this time around they wanted the razr to not have a crappy build and put kevlar on the back. unlike the razr, it *does* have a removable battery. the biggest deal with the razr is just the fact that the razr maxx exists and came out 2 months later, with a battery twice as good... resulting in being able to play videos and 4g on for a good 12 hours. <_<;

but bionic should be the cheapest of that bunch. i'd assume the galaxy s2 is in that same tiering or the one under it, and that's also worth consideration. either way, still say the rezound is a better pick than either of 'em. it deals with networks best, it's getting ics very soon, has the best specs, resolution, and htc's got solid builds. and if you're a new verizon customer you should be absolutely able to get one of their better phones for next to nothing. or in the s2's case, probably just straight nothing. <_<;

also, is a verizon store an oki place to buy? I'm switching from at&t... will we be able to keep our number?

I'm curious about this as well. I know you can get HSPA+ speeds anywhere in Canada and LTE just in the major cities.. are there actually areas of the States still running on EDGE?

ics = ice cream sandwich. also known as android 4.0, also known as 'the android system they're trying to get people on because that way they can stick to a single standard for everything.' it's the only operating system that can run chrome, which is the best browser out there.

sales that happen sometimes are the verizon store. sometimes not. often you'll be better with amazon in those instances (or a bunch of others but amazon's the one most know). going to a physical store though, unless there's an active sale, isn't good no. and you don't manually choose to switch between 2/3/4g usually (you can for battery purposes i suppose), but sometimes one will just kick out. the ideal is that it'd just seemlessly go to the next one, but that's not always the case. most phones have no problem with it, but the rezound's notable in that it's very, very good at signal strength and moving around if it has to.

EDGE exists, yes. EDGE also is what you'd get if you were to use a phone meant for at&t to t-mobile (or vice versa) due to the different bands on it. only those two carriers can have phones shared between them, but if it's not the right one that's where your limit goes for data.
